Make a Knit Vest: 5 Free Knitted Vest Patterns from Knitting Daily

Feb 25, 2011

Knit vests are a wonderful addition to everyone's wardrobe. They're perfect for early spring and fall, when you just want a little layer over your T-shirt.

We think you should knit a vest, so we're giving you five free knitted vest patterns in our new eBook, Make a Knit Vest: 5 Free Knitted Vest Patterns from Knitting Daily.

There's a knit vest pattern here for each member of your family! From a cable knit vest to vest patterns for women, you'll find something that you want to add to your (or someone in your family's) wardrobe!

1. Valkyrie Vest: Lisa Shroyer's cable knit vest is so stylish and unique. The cable work is interesting and fun to work, and the vest is designed for worsted-weight yarn, so the yarn choice is almost endless.

2. Robert's Houndstooth Vest: Marilyn Murphy's man's knit vest pattern is a V-neck worked in a houndstooth pattern with two colors. It's knit in one piece, so there aren't a lot of seams to deal with, either. This vest can work in the office or in the field.

3. Classic Camel Vest: Tara Jon Manning's vest will never go out of style. Knit at a gauge of 5 stitches per inch, it has a wonderful drape for casual or corporate style. The man in your life will get a lot of wear out of this knitted vest!

4. Shadowy Vest: Marilyn Murphy created this knit vest pattern just for kids, and she used a really fun stitch pattern: the Shadow Stripe Pattern. This stitch combines a multicolored yarn with a solid, so you can use many of your little one's favorite colors.

5. Eco Vest: Katie Himmelman's cardigan knit vest pattern is a real treat to knit and to wear. Knit on size 10½ needles, it's a quick knit that you'll wear again and again.

We hope these five free knitted vest patterns will help you welcome the vest to your wardrobe. Download Make a Knit Vest: 5 Free Knitted Vest Patterns from Knitting Daily today!

Have fun,

P.S. Do you have friends who are interested in creating their very own knitted vest? Forward this link to them so they can download their own free copy of Make a Knit Vest: 5 Free Knitted Vest Patterns from Knitting Daily, too!

I want to knit a v nick vest (in stripes) for my son who is 40 years old. I don't want buttons down the front, they tend to pull open, just a plain vest, have been knitting quite a few years but only have ladies/baby patterns. Just need to know how to decrease for neck etc. When I tried to download a vest with buttons & perhaps convert it, my pc said there was an error & couldn't download. It was on Adobe reader which my old pc has, so still I don't have a pattern. Can you help?

Thanks  Jennifer

Hi, I just downloaded the ebook and all patterns are there and nothing missing.  Took 30 seconds at most to download, save, and look through the patterns to see if anything was missing.

Funny, I am writing to ask if someone can send me the .pdf to my e-dress.  My issue has nothing to do with the sun. :<(

Hi Lee Marsh,

Try downloading in a couple of days -- the sun has released a whole bunch of strong energy waves and this interferes with any wireless devise and most internet services.  This is the "report" from those that monitor such things.  My internet acts up during the day but not at night and has only done so for 2 days now.  By Monday things should be back to normal.  Also what Kathleen says is absolutely correct.  Adobe just put out an update to download.

Shadowy vest looks a lot like the vest I've made for my son a month ago:

I've did it based on a free pattern from Ravelry, called Ring Bearer Vest.

Hi Lee,

Do you have an older version of Adobe? You can check here to see if you have the most recent version: www.adobe.com/.../reader.html

I have Adobe 9.4 and I can download the file just fine.

If you keep having problems, email me at kcubley@interweave.com.

Kathleen

I have downloaded this 3 times and keep getting error messages when I try to open the file. Adobe Reader opens all of my other pdf files but it won't open this one
