| Sheep marker from Knitifacts. So cute! |
|
Happy Friday!I'm starting a new
feature today on
Knitting Daily! I want you to know all about what's
going on out there in the knitting world. There's so much knitting knowledge
out there, and I don't want you to miss anything. Each Friday I'll be bringing
you some sort of online knitting goodie, so check Knitting Daily on Friday
afternoons from now on.
Today's stop on our online tour is one of the first online knitting magazines
that appeared on the scene:
Knitty.
There have been so many classic patterns that first appeared in
Knitty,
including Kate Gilbert's uber-popular scarf the Clapotis. (I have one that I
wear all the time and another on the needles as my portable project.)
I love everything about the
Knitty: the free knitting patterns; the how to knit
articles full of knitting techniques and tips and tricks; and the interesting,
informative features. Amy Singer, Jillian Moreno, and the rest of the
Knitty
crew do such an amazing job pulling together exciting patterns and informative
information.
But, true confessions, the first page I visit in each new issue is the
"Cool Stuff" page.
This section is full of new knitting doodads, books, tools, and just all of the
fun things that knitters love to know about!
The new stuff is reviewed in-depth and the
Knitty reviewers only present the
best of what's out there so you know you're getting top-notch supplies.
I fell in love with a couple of things in the winter Cool Stuff feature. The
first little goodie is pictured above left—a sheep stitch marker! Isn't that super
cute? (It's near the bottom of the Cool Stuff page, so scroll down!)
The second must-have for me is the Hug Light. Since I turned 40, my eyes are
changing really fast-twice this year I've had to increase my reading (and
knitting!) magnification! I've tried a couple of necklace-type lights without
much success; I haven't been able to keep them in position well enough and the
light isn't strong enough. But the Hug Light (love the cutie-pie name) looks a
cut above the rest. I'm going to try it.
Knitty is so full of great knitting patterns for women, knitting patterns for
men, sock knitting patterns, and everything in between. If you're not already
familiar with
Knitty,
check it out today!
Cheers,
