I got the greatest recommendation this week on Ravelry! Someone told me about Knitcircus Magazine. I immediately clicked over there and I have to tell you, I don't know how I've missed this fabulous resource! I had so much fun going through all of the patterns and articles.
I fell in love with the Blue Lupine Mitts by Stephannie Tallent. They're so cute! I enjoy making knit gloves, so these beautiful mitts are right up my alley.
There's something for everyone at Knitcircus. From reviews of knitting supplies, books, and yarn reviews
to all sorts of patterns and even a contest, you'll find interesting
articles and must-make designs.
The folks at Knitcircus do such a great job describing themselves, I thought I'd do a little cutting and pasting! From the Knitcircus "About Us" section:
"Originally started on
a home laser printer, Knitcircus expanded and ran as a glossy print
outfit for eight issues. The magazine took to the net with our Spring 2010
issue and we just love being online.
We're an independent knitting magazine run by fibercraft junkies who have fun
providing appealing, knittable patterns for the whole family. Dedicated
multicrafters, we figure you are, too and offer our readers sewing patterns,
recipes and other branch-out projects with every magazine.
Our designers and customers mean a lot to us, so we create Pattern Collections
for a limited time (designers get their rights back) and for a very reasonable
price (customers get a bargain). Designers can choose to participate in our
online pattern store, so you can browse there for individual patterns you liked
from past issues. Everyone gets to view the magazine for free, and we donate to
Heifer international and KIVA.org with every issue.
Active participants in the knitting community, we reach out to interview the
designers we're most curious about, offer reviews of independent yarns and
books and useful articles like our "Choose it and Use It" yarn series, "Thinking
Small" indy fiber mills series and Wendy Johnson's techniques column. Every year
we sponsor the Hat Circus charity knitting and sewing event to warm up some of
Wisconsin's chilliest kids and give them a chance to play outside during the
winter. Want to join in? Check out our Ravelry
Knitcircus Group and Knitcircus
Blog for details; donations accepted all year long!
Welcome to the Circus; open up your handknit parasol, and let's fly!"

Hazelnut Macaroons. YUM! |
I love the donation aspect of
Knitcircus, the world needs more organizations like this. As if all of the content in
Knitcircus plus the donations to KIVA and Heifer International weren't enough, there's a cookie recipe in each issue! This issue it's for luscious Hazelnut Macaroons.
So get thee to the circus, and have a great weekend!
Cheers,
