It's I Love Yarn Day!

Oct 14, 2011

Oh, how we love our yarn. The feel of it, the color of it, the look of it. I even like the smell of a good, raw wool!

We love our yarn every day, but today is extra special because it's the Craft Yarn Council's I Love Yarn Day! So do something special with yarn today—here are some ideas:

  • Knit in public.
  • Start a new project.
  • Visit with your stash.
  • Teach someone to knit!
  • Wear your favorite handknitted item.
  • Have a yarn exchange with your knitting group.
  • Go to a yarn shop and discover a new yarn or fiber.
  • Get together with your knitting friends and drink a toast to yarn, and then consider a group charity knitting project.
  • Carry a skein of yarn around in your handbag all day; occasionally reach in and pet it.
  • Put a skein of yarn on your dashboard so everyone who walks by your car can see your love for yarn!
  • Take a photo of your favorite yarn and use it as your Facebook profile picture (and post about I Love Yarn Day!)
  • And best of all: knit, knit, knit!

Have a great day loving your yarn.

Cheers,

I love it~"...reach in and pet it." I ALWAYS have my knitting bag with me, full of yarn, so petting opportunities abound!

I meet with my knitting group on Fridays at a coffee shop, so yesterday we knit away, in public for several hours on I Love Yarn Day. I also had show-and-tell of all the new yarn I bought recently, while traveling. I think we definitely achieved the spirit of YARN DAY!

HELP!!! ( :

I am going crazy & was wondering if you'd be able to help me. On Monday October 3rd (I'm pretty sure that was the date) there was an episode o Knitting Daily on PBS/WTIU. There was a stitch/pattern that I was hoping to remember & try. Unfortunately w/a young son trying to help me remember it, I don't remember how it went. The lady used two different colors of yarn & alternated them w/in each row to make kind of a braided/cable effect. Do you know what I'm talking about? Is there anyway, if you do know what I'm talking about that you could give me instructions for it?

   Thank you for your time,

I had I love yarn day on my calendar. Since it's Friday, I'm loving me some skeins with some liquor at the end of the day.
