Bulking Up At the Last Minute

Dec 5, 2012

Do you need some ideas for last-minute knitted gifts for the holidays?

Well, it's time to bulk up, and I don't mean carbo-loading. I mean it's time to knit up some quick projects with bulky yarn!

Here are some ideas for you!

     Shadow Tuque by Lee Juvan

This hat is a simple, interesting knit, combining cables with ribbing to make a pretty and cozy topper.

The cables are knit right next to each other, making a really attractive stitch pattern.

It's knit with bulky yarn on size 9 needles, which makes a sturdy fabric with just the right amount of give.
Solstice Scarf by Cheryl Beckerich

This generously sized scarf is worked on size 10 needles for both instant gratification and instant warmth.

Cheryl thought the simple stitch pattern was reminiscent of snow weighing down the tall grasses in her winter garden.
Chevron Vest by Courtney Kelley

The classic knit/purl gets refined and simplified into a striking mirrored motif that adds visual flow to a cropped, boxy shape.

A drapey alpaca, merino, and silk blend in a bulky weight creates a plush, soft fabric.
Acidic Seed Stitch Bag by Kate Jackson

This easy double seed-stitch bag is worked in the round from the bottom up. On size 13 needles with super bulky yarn, this bag knits up lickety-split!

It's perfect for the girls in your life, from age 5 to 95! You can customize it with a one-of-a-kind button, too.
I hope one of these projects is the perfect fit for a lucky someone on your gift list!

There seems to be no way to download the vest.  The link just goes to more pictures and description - no pattern download.

The link to the Chevron Vest takes us to the Seed Stitch Bag link.  I can't get to the Chevron Vest page!  Can you fix it?
