Let's Knit Along!

Feb 15, 2013

It's that time again . . . a new knit-along! We haven't had a knit-along here on Knitting Daily in awhile, so I thought we could choose a warm-weather knitting project this time.

Oh, and if you want to see more details about each project (sizes, yarn, needles, gauge, etc.), just click on the project name (or the photo), and then click on the "Pattern Details" tab on the project page. Now let's meet the knitted sweaters that are in the mix for our new knit-along:

Cassi Castillo's Sakura Tee has clever dolman sleeves and a lace mesh yoke. The yoke grows out of the beautiful, lacey flower motif on the front panel. This tee is aptly named—it's as beautiful as sakura, which is the Japanese word for cherry blossom!
In the Crossed Jacket by Megan Goodacre, a purl-dotted fabric and gentle curves meld in a short jacket with kimono sleeves. A crossover back vent and fronts that fasten at the throat finish off this warm-weather cardigan. A slightly contrasting collar and cuff yarn gives some subtle structure.
AnneLena Mattison's Ruched Yoke Tee has a really neat detailed yoke—increases and decreases at the beginning and end of each ruching section create more fabric than the space can hold, resulting in the ruched sections. Garter stitch welts between the ruching add structure.

The Rayleigh Tee by Mandy Moore is a short-sleeved women's tee with sailor collar and twisted rib detail. Miniature cables run down the sides of the tee, creating a fun detail.

Did you choose your favorite? Then go and vote! I'll announce the winner next Friday.

Cheers,

P.S. Have you participated in the knit-along? Leave a comment and tell us your favorite thing about it!

I like the Rayleigh tee but I am almost to completing the waist increases on the Ruched Tee.  Because it is my first try;  I am using Red Heart`s lime green yarn in the Super Saver.  Next time, I will buy some cotton yarn to make it nice and comfortable for the summer.  I have been working on this while waiting/ riding the bus.  Have already gotten lots of compliments and some have had second thoughts about knitting during stolen moments.

Kathleen,

The Forum set up for the Ruched Yoke Tee (announced in the "Slip Stitch Crochet Seam" email) went to the former Caftan Forum page.

Wouldn't "next Friday" have been last Friday, the 22nd?  I'm so interested in finding out how the voting turned out as well as how the Knit-Along works.  Please announce soon!

So, is the voting closed now? Are we going to be knitting the Ruched Yoke Tee??

I am attracted to the ruffles between the stockinette stitched rows in the Ruched Yoke Tee.  I've never used ruching when knitting and would like to give it a go.  I have some light-blue Brown Sheep DK weight yarn, made with 80% cotton and 20% wool.  This would probably work just fine for a warm-weather Tee.  Judy in SE Wisconsin... looking forward to the knit-along.

I already ordered yarn for the ruched yoke sweater...I think it's a shoe in, even though I voted for crossed jacket...want to get a jump start this time around - perhaps finishing. I am still knitting the Pan Am!

The Ruched Yoke Tee.  Beautiful detailing around the yok and the keyhole opening addes interest yet is still modest.

Hi, definitely the Rucked Yoke Tee.  Feminine with interesting yoke detailing.  The keyhole is perfect - not too revealing.

I like Sakura Tee!!!!

on Feb 16, 2013 7:21 AM

Originally wanted to knit the Sakura Tee because it was so unique. But after looking at projects on Ravelry, I realize I'd most likely have to wear a tank liner underneath, because of the open pattern. Amascheri on Ravelry made this and knit the whole back in the openwork like the yoke.

I'm voting for Ruched Yoke Tee. I'm more likely to wear it.

on Feb 16, 2013 6:51 AM

I bought all the patterns for the knit along.......except for the Rayleigh tee which is not appropriate for my age or build.....or older body problems; so I am ready and agree with most of the knitters who will be knitting along.

What better way to keep enthused about knitting a project for oneself~

I vote for The Crossed Jacket, but I would lengthen the sleeves so that I could roll them up during the summer when it is cool in the mornings.

I am trying to figure out where to vote. If I could find it, I would vote for the ruched tee. It would be appropriate for all different sized women and is feminine but covers all the important bits. I hope it is top down. I will go look for my my copy of that issue right away!

I am just so happy for another Knit Along...I have learned more about the craft through the kindness of others in the "circle" than from any other source.  Even if I don't finish!  Thanks Kathleen.  After a depressing Valentine's Day, this makes me feel good again!
