Enter the Share the Love Design Contest!

Feb 1, 2014

We know there are a lot of talented designers lurking in the Knitting Daily membership, so we decided to launch a contest to lure you out of hiding! We want to feature your patterns on Knitting Daily!

We thought it would be fun to share new designs with our members, by our members. And because we love you, we decided the Valentines season was the perfect time to share the joy.

There will be three winners, and three fabulous prizes. We're going to give away all sorts of goodies to make up three wonderful prize packs.

Are you ready to become a published designer? Here's the scoop on what to do (aka the contest rules):

1. Gather what you need for the submission, this includes:

• The full pattern instructions, or if it's already posted on another site, the link to where the project can be accessed for free.
• A picture of the project, either completed or in progress.
• Answers to the following four questions to include with your pattern submission. Answer with at least a sentence or two so we can really appreciate your inspiring story and hard work:

  1. What was the inspiration for your submitted pattern?
  2. Was the design process smooth or did you run into any struggles?
  3. What was the most valuable lesson you learned along the way?
  4. What materials are required to complete this pattern? (aka put your materials list here)

2. Submit your entry. Do this by going to the Share the Love—Knitting Design Contest gallery, clicking the upload button, and adding your submission materials (including pattern/link, picture, and answers). You'll need to be logged into your Knitting Daily account to see the upload button.

Be sure you check out the official rules and regulations regarding this contest. Access the gallery here to see what other knitters have submitted and let the fun begin!

That's it! Contest starts February 1, 2014, and ends March 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. When the contest has ended, our Interweave panel of judges will select the three winners and announce them on the Knitting Daily blog.

We'll feature new entries on the Knitting Daily Facebook Page, so check back often and be sure to get your entry started.

Good luck!

*Eligibility: Due to the variety of rules regulating contests worldwide, we can only select winners from entrants that are U.S. residents (excluding Puerto Rico), 18 years old or older at the time of entry; and Canadian residents (excluding Quebec). We'd still love for you to share your designs no matter where you live, and who knows, it could end up being featured on Knitting Daily.

mfsamu1 - Oh dear, I see what happened. Beading Daily and Knitting Daily launched similar contests at the same time, one here and one on that site, and the rules were the same except for a few places. It looks like that line was not changed on the rules here.

I would definitely be willing to consider your pattern except there's one big piece missing, the actual instructions for the free pattern. If you can transfer what you have and include the pattern instructions/link I'll see what I can do. Here's the gallery here.

I also wrote you an email with the instructions.

4. Submit your entry by uploading all this information to the “Beading Daily Kumihimo Pattern Contest” gallery with information from questions 1-3.

The information above is the info I copied under your official rules to enter the share the love of knitting contest. That is where I submitted my pink hearts and cable dress. When I attempted to upload my dress, there was no link here. So, I guess that means my design does not get any consideration. Someone commented: "Great dress, but what does this have to do with beading?"

Wouldn't you believe we forgot to flip the one switch that made the gallery accessible. Now when you go to that gallery, and you are logged into your Knitting Daily account, the upload button should be visible. Let us know if it isn't!
