Knit Gloves: 7 Free Knitting Patterns for Gloves and Fingerless Gloves

Mar 7, 2014

Little Gems Mitts by Donna Kay. Get your FREE PATTERN, plus 6 more free fingerless gloves and knit glove patterns, shown below!
Knitted gloves and mitts are so special; they're at once utilitarian and extravagant.

Here at Knitting Daily, we want your hands to be warm and toasty, so we've gathered our favorite knitting patterns for fingerless gloves and "fingered" gloves into a free eBook:  7 Free Knitting Patterns for Fingerless Gloves and Other Glove Knitting Patterns.

Little Gems Mitts by Donna Kay are knit in a tiny stranded colorwork motif in in beautiful jewel-tone yarns. I love these; such fun colors.

Lace and Twist Gloves by Silka Borgoyne are worked in a beautiful lace and twist cable pattern. Features like twisted rib, shaped fingers, and a wool/bamboo yarn make these gloves a perfect luxurious gift.

Layered Turkish Gloves by Mari Lynn Patrick is actually a pattern for two pairs of gloves: solid color undergloves and Turkish patterned over-gloves. What a clever design, and so lovely.

Uncommon Gardening Gloves by Donna Druchunas were invented out of necessity. Donna couldn't find a pair of gardening gloves that fit comfortably, so she designed her own. What a neat idea! I have lots of gardening gloves, but none of them fit perfectly because of my short fingers and wide palms.

Two-Color Norwegian Gloves by Nancy Bush were inspired by a pair with similar patterning in the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum's textile collection. Fabulous design. Nancy is a true master of Norwegian knitting.

Clockwise from upper left: Winter Twilight Mitts, Uncommon Gardening Gloves, Two-Color Norwegian Gloves, Lace and Twist Gloves, Layered Turkish Gloves, and Motley Mitts

Motley Mitts by Lisa Shroyer are a celebration of the knit stitch. The fabric is shaped into a subtle hourglass with short-rows, creating a tailored fit.

Winter Twilight Mitts by Laura Rintala were inspired by a purple overcast sky showing through the black silhouettes of winter trees. They are truly beautiful.

I'd like to thank you for showing us how to knit the very top of the fingers on a pair of gloves.  It sounds easy in a pattern, but you made it seem a much smoother look & detail.
