Sounds like a great book!

Favorite Sci-Fi shows are Star Trek, although Babylon 5 was a good one, too. Books - pretty much anything by Heinlein or James Schmidt

I love all of the comments! Dr. Who? Check. And I loved all of the SG1 shows. I really wish Universe would have lasted. I enjoyed it so much and loved the characters.

Wow! Knitting and Sci-Fi are my two FAVORITE obsessions! Love the laptop cover. I am a long time Star Trek fan and adored the "new" BSG. Was so sorry to see it end. Fringe is my current favorite, but alas, that is coming to an end as well.

SciFi nut? If you haven't already, check out e. e. "doc" smith. Old, hard to find but scientifically so far ahead of his time it isn't funny. Too bad our own space efforts are so horse and buggy in comparison. Some of his thoughts have stayed with me for 50 years and I still read him again whenever I find him second-hand.

My all-time favorite science fiction is Firefly (with the movie "Serenity" which followed). Also love the BSG reboot. Stargate SG-1 was really good, too. I have a tendancy to fall for shows which don't get big runs (cancelled first season, that sort of thing). Both BSG and SG-1 were nice in that they had good runs.

I also hope the book becomes downloadable, looks like projects to make for all the geeks in my life. I am a huge sci-fi fan, all of it, read it, watch it and my next project is Tardis socks. ps: Farscape was filmed here in Australia, where are all the new shows sigh.

Kathleen: I, too, am a BATTLESTAR GALATICA fan. I believe it is one of the best science fiction series of all time. I enjoyed the sci-fi aspects as well as the relationships between the characters. The human connection with the people of the fleet made the series personal. Not sure if I will connect with characters on any series ever again the way I did with the characters on that series. Judy

I too am in the Sci-fi mob. I most fervently second St1tchpunk's hope that the book is digitally available also -same reason &... it is a sci-fi theme after all, & we are living (some of) the technology thought of by the writers... mobile communicators, file /image transfer. holograms, space shuttles etc.. even elementary robots. Kathleen, I'm going in search of the Nerdy Knitter's on Ravelry - never knew it existed... silly me! & i have a whole family of compulsive sci-fi/sci-fantasy-ers. Love the Rutherford's pattern! I also love that the first chapter in one of my physics books is titled "Science & creativity"! For the budding junior Dr Who fan.. "the Sarah Jane Smith Adventures" from (English childrens BBC) CBBC. Knitsister2 -my daughter requested Rose's fingerless gloves last week! kmlyfld - if you haven't already, try Farscape & Warehouse 13. The latter is set in this world, but great fun!! I cant decide between Farscape & Babylon 5 as favourites... But it might be Farscape by a nose. Both have amazing wardrobe/costuming!

Oh gosh yes! I was a HUGE fan of Robert Heinlein "boys" books (waay back when girls didn't do such things!). I SLEPT with my sci-fi library books! Saw every episode of the original Star Trek so many times that within 2 seconds (literally) I knew which show it was. ... And I think JJ Abrams re-take on Star Trek is really really exciting - I hope he makes a whole bunch more. Got goosebumps when Star Wars (later :Episode Four) came out. And Battlestar Galactica: looove Starbuck! And . well, you get the idea! Knitting with sci-fi themes is an idea a whole bunch of us can get behind.

I'm just the opposite: I prefer dragons & faeries. No interest in space ships or futuristic weaponry. I have never had the slightest interest in Star Trek. I love the Jane Austen knits patterns. That is more my style than futuristic. You should do a book of Edwardian patterns. I'd be happy to design it for you!

BIG BIG fan of sci fi. Favourite shows include Firefly, Stargate SG1, The X-Files, Dr Who (9 & 10), Primeval, Torchwood, the original Star Trek, Red Dwarf.... etc etc...

Will this be available as an e-book or just in hard copy? I really really want this but I'm a bit nervous about how much shipping to other side of the world might be.

I love Sci Fi too ! My favs were Firefly and Farscape, both of which are long gone. Wish that the SyFy channel would bring them back. Hint, Hint !!
