No need to cut and past it to a word program. Just RIGHT CLICK over the image, go to SAVE PICTURE AS, then give it a name (or keep the name that comes in, but that isn't very helpful), and put it in a folder. I created a desktop folder named Stitch of the Day, and each page is there. When I want to see a page, I just open it with my image viewing program (microscoft picture and fax viewer works for me), and I can look at it, print it, whatever. You could divide this folder into subfolders with the names of the 3 different stitch books, and there you have it. No fuss.

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

I didn't get a Knitting Daily yesterday-Oct.2

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

I didn't get a Knitting Daily email yesterday (Oct 2) so I missed the gathered stitch on the Stitch of the Day page. :(

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

I haven't been able to see any of the stitches at all, even with the pop-up blocker turned off. I have also gotten a similar problem, but this is how I have solved it. I right-click on the picture and choose copy. I then pasted it to Word, and have reduced the size of the picture. As it reduces, the rest of the rows appear at the bottom. My picture is now 9.58inches [height] by 3.13inches(width)

I hope this helps.

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

Sandi got a great rightup in "Simply Knitting" from the UK. I also learned the hard way to label them with the yarn, the needle size and what stitch pattern I used. I just use those little tags on strings which I can tie on to the swatch. And yes, I even save the boring old stockinette gauge swatches. There has been more than once that I've bought a new yarn, thought this is just like that other one - now where is the swatch and what size needle did I use???

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

I used to knit swatches to save in a sort of reference library fashion. That was until the day my daughter objected. She said, "That's too pretty. It has to be something. What is it?". Her son picked it right out of her hands and said, "That is a donkey blanket.", and wrapped it around his favorite stuffie. So now I knit donkey blankets, and as new ones are created the old ones are sneaked back to be recycled into my reference files.

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

Random swatches? That's how I learned cabling! Shortly after I mastered knit and purl, I bought three of the Walker stitch treasuries and knitted swatch after swatch after swatch of beautiful cables. I'd intended to use them to design a cabled afghan, but drastically changed the design and had a bunch of cable swatches in a bag for years. When I had to do a demonstration on cabling, though, I was very well prepared.

re: Spice Up Your Knitting

Could you please find some way to include the Stitch of the Day so that the ad pop up blockers don't block it? It's a great way to get the feel for a certain stitch and play around with being creative without having to follow a pattern. My current "swatch" is a moss stitch, with brown and green cotton/tencel blend yarn. It's becomming a cozy for my mp3 player... I may even do some embroidery with it! :D
