I, too, have much to be thankful for, especially my newly renewed (and vastly more obsessive relationship with knitting!). I was struck by the entries from Canadians in the US and vice versa as my elder daughter has just moved to Edmonton (in August) to attend graduate school at U. of Alberta. My other daughter is at Northwestern U. in Illinois- As children from Portland, OR they are discovering the meaning of cold weather. I am madly knitting warm woolen items to fill their Christmas lists. Thank you for your comments.

re: Giving Thanks To Those Who Bring Us Beautiful Knitting

I so appreciate the innovation by Interweave to use internet technology to give designers what they so richly deserve.

I love looking at vintage or archived patterns! Bring more out, please!

Also, I'd like to search the pattern store by designers. I agree about using PayPal, too.

re: Giving Thanks To Those Who Bring Us Beautiful Knitting

To Charli,
I had that problem for a while but finally found the answer is to be in the website (not the email) and then click on the tab Blogs.

Too often we forget the sheer amount of work - never mind inherent talent - required to write a genuinely good pattern. Thank you, Sandi.
By the way, I "third"(?) the PayPal option. I have no issues with using credit cards, but the simplicity of PayPal is very appealing. Surely it can't be that much more costly to Interweave than credit cards?

re: Giving Thanks To Those Who Bring Us Beautiful Knitting

I'd also love to see a way to search by designer, and I'd also love to be able to browse patterns by skill level - search by item type and then sort by skill level would be even better.

re: Giving Thanks To Those Who Bring Us Beautiful Knitting

Is there a way for me to scroll methodically through the KD posts? Before I became disabled, I began to develop a knitwear design career, and doing the research back then, the discouraging thing was lack of royalties for designers. I followed Annie Modisett when she was blogging on this subject, and she showed the difficulty clearly. Interweave was courageous and progressive to develop the system you outlined, and as an erstwhile designer, I thank you and the company for making a move.
I hope other companies follow your lead. Plus, as usual, you are the heart of Knitting Daily, and we all thank you for being you.

As someone who moved from Canada to the States at almost the exact moment you moved the other way, Sandi, I understand exactly your "Thanksgiving Season" feelings--I keep being disconcerted when people ask me how my holiday season is going, as I feel like I'm in Thanksgiving season right now, and that the Christmas/winter holiday season hasn't started yet! I'm very grateful for the Pattern Store too--as a relatively late comer to Interweave Knits, I would be incredibly frustrated if I couldn't get all the beautiful patterns from sold-out issues! One thing I am wondering about the pattern store, though--why the price variations? I'm not complaining, just wondering why one (camisole) pattern costs more than another (coat) pattern, for example.
Enjoy Canada; it's a great place!

re: Giving Thanks To Those Who Bring Us Beautiful Knitting

Wow! I'm running out of bookcase space for my knitting books!!!

Also love the gifts KD gives us in the form of great free patterns! The extra $$ I save with the free patterns gives me an opportunity to buy better yarn and there's nothing to replace great yarn!

Happy Thanksgiving to All.
