Help! There seems a lot of confusion re this pattern. Kathleen- please let us know if we need to purchase this pattern or will you be providing it. Honestly, it does seem a little over my head so if I have to purchase it I won't be doing it, sadly. I also vote for something a little less complicated- and free- for next time especially with Christmas coming up I would like to improve my knitting skills.

Well, I have learned a lesson by participating in this KAL. I swatched with my Lamb's Pride worsted (85% wool, 15% mohair) and, while I usually knit to gauge, discovered that this was not the case with this yarn. In order to reach the gauge in the pattern I had to adjust my needle size from 8 to 10. This was a surprise - one I'm glad I discovered before I knit the whole sweater and then had to give it to my slimmer daughter.

I looked through my old issues of Interweave Knits to find that I don't have that issue. BUT, rather than buy the one pattern, I think I'm going to buy the CD of that entire year! I think it's more cost-effective. I do agree also about the pattern for a knit along being free, however, if this is a pattern by a particular designer they may require some sort of royalty. Could this be the reason for the need to purchase this pattern?

I have never participated in a knit-along. I have the pattern and will probably not make the socks for a month or so, but I would love to read the comments from those who have already done them. How do I do that? thank you. ElizabethH

I made the Central Park Hoodie for my granddaughter who is in college near Pittsburg PA. I made it last September. I only put the cable up both sides of the center and around the hood. It really looked great. Also, crocheted around the opening and put loops for buttons. I made it in a beautiful shade of teal. She loved it

I am inclined to agree with Valerie about having to purchase the pattern. I did just do so online, but the Monkey Sock pattern was free. What is the difference? I have never participated in a knitting group before. While it does sound fun, I also look for value. To me, the value would be the included pattern. Thanks for listening. JenniferJocelyn

KAL patterns for other groups are usually offered gratis for a imited time. Not so here?

and it states: The original Hoodie is in the fall 2006 issue with sizing up to 48" bust. For those who need the plus-size version, purchase the pattern with the complete size range exclusively at the Interweave Store.

Why should someone with the original need to re-purchase?? Just for size adjustments.

Where do we who do not need plus-sizing find the pattern?

Crochet a-longs seem to be more participant friendly.

I love the idea of the Knit-a-Long as well as the new Hoodie project. I'm a fairly novice knitter, tho, and have never done cables. This project looks like it's for advanced knitters - is it? Any chance a second Knit-a-Long project could be selected for those of us who are less experienced?

I, too, am knitting the Monkey Socks. But I had to finish another pair that were under way. I'm doing them the two-at-once on two circulars method. I really like doing two-at-once. Completely avoids the "second sock syndrome" to which I am as susceptible as anyone else. I'm on the leg with 4 1/2 pattern repeats done. Soon to the heel and on to the toe, eh?!!! Nice pattern and simple enough to follow without too much intense focus. I can knit on these while at my knitting group and that's a PLUS.

The yarn requirements jump between 48" and 52" seems excessive, are these numbers correct?
