I think this is just what I need. I'm looking for a way to add a crochet collar to a knitted baby pullover sweater. I hate working with double-pointed needles, and would rather try crochet. Is there a crochet stitch that resembles ribbing? Anyone have suggestions?

Thank you Kathleen, and all the others who make the FREE information site, Knitting Daily, possible. I subscribe to both IK and IC and treasure each issue.

That said, I am always amazed at the readers who request no more crochet articles, or even better, the ones who threaten to unsubscribe. How business ignorant are people? The only reason there's a Knitting Daily is to support all the publications -magazines, books, dvds, patterns-that Interweave puts out so others will BUY them and they can stay in business. Boo hoo if you don't like the rare crochet article. Frankly, I just skim the opening paragraph every day, and often I'm not interested, even though it might address knitting. It's called the delete button, people.

I love your emails and your articles. I am a knitter and also crochet. Thanks for including the small amount of crochet that you do. I am sure there are many of us that don both and also do them both on one project. In fact more would be nice.

I'm receiving too many emails from Knitting Daily on too many topics---on book and magazine sales, spinning, crochet, beading, etc. I joined to enjoy Knitting tips, patterns, sources, information. Is is possible to adjust my subscriptions, so I receive only one or two emails per week in the areas of my interests? Right now, these multiple daily promotional and topic emails are becoming very distracting.

I have to say that Knitting Daily is deleted more in my email than read. I know think the word knitting does include other arts, but I want knitting stuff. I can be selfish because I am receiving this and I know that Knitting Daily reads what we write here.

So please stay on the knitting track or suggest (minimally) other embellishments.

I don't get what the issue is with crochet, we use fiber just like knitting and a needle. Crochet hook or kniiting needle then decides the type of stitches we make.

We all know what we like and bashing each other over the "Craft" we chose is not nice.

Whether or not this is knitting daily or crocheting daily. It all pertains to yarn and taking that yarn and creating a fabric out of it. Who cares how we get there, just as long as we enjoy the trip and are respectful of each others journey's

maybe we should call it "Needle Daily"

I am a crocheter and a knitter. I think closing your mind to one or the other is very immature.

Kristin, Where can I get a pattern for the neat sweater you are wearing in the show 407, It is blue and loose.

I would love to try it.

I watch Kniting Daily every show. I enjoy it. and learn a lot on Knitting and crocheting.

Wow! Kathleen's friend Molly here. Surprised that the knitting purists can't even handle the idea that a little crochet embelishment can be helpful and cute. sad

The log cabin granny square aphgan was inspired by log cabin quilting patterns that I had been appreciating. This aphgan is not super functional because of the many ends to tie in and Wool cotton is a bit slippery. Next time, I would make the whole blanket one of the log cabin squares with each granny suqare being one-color smaller squares.

Sylvie's sweater pattern is Maytime from the book Rowan Babies.

Molly used Rowan Wool Cotton for her afghan, and the color pattern is sort of a log cabin pattern that she made up herself.

Currently I am working on the Brioche Helmet Hat, Fall 2005. It is an adorable hat and I have made many for friends kids. Can anyone OR has anyone enlarged this pattern for adults? I, too, am aghast at all the whining about this crochet post. I understand that all people have a right to their opinion, however, how about some positive feedback instead of all that negative energy?

I'm ashamed to call some of you knitters. The time you spent complaining you could have spent on something positive like praying for someone. Or you could have chosen something else to focus on and say something nice to lift someones spirits instead. I'm glad you are passionate about knitting and I pray that if you were just having a rough day that tomorrow is full of everything that makes you happy.

OK. I'm brand new to this site. I've only been a member for two weeks, but I absolutely love learning about adapting crochet to knitting. I learned to crochet in my teens, but stopped when I couldn't find things that were current. (Didn't have the internet then.) Recently, my granddaughters and I took knitting lessons. I love the drape and look of knitted items, but make so many mistakes, which are hard to take out, that I have only attempted easy, easy projects. I just want to say I love the mix of both and hope I don't become an 'exclusive' knit snob. Who knows, I've been known to eat my words--once or twice:)
