It's a cute decoration for the desk.

I do see that in the intro Kathleen prefaces Mags' quote by her comment in ( ) which reads,

"(and working on other crafts) means to me:"

So it seems that the possible "Conundrum" with the quote is more of the Mags' intro quotation rather than Kathleen's.

So this is another craft, and there are times when we need a little diversion from knitting and crocheting, yarn dying, spinning, felting, etc., eh?

I'm not sure this really falls into the knitting spectrum.

My main reason for commenting though, is RE the instructions:

"insert the small end of a funnel or paper cone into the opening and pour the seeds into the wide end."

LOL-LOL! Are there really people out there who don't know how to use a funnel??

While this is a very cute project, a wrist rest can be >responsible< for repetitive strain injury because it immobilizes the rest of the arm! Please do some research on this! As far as I can tell, it's far better to use the >arm< to move the mouse around, whether it's a mouse, a track ball, or.... I am always asking my music students, esp. those dealing with RSI of any kind, if they use a wrist rest at the computer, and if so, to throw it out. I hope everyone who reads this will consider this. Let's enlarge today's project into a small bag instead. It's safer and still very handy!

How exactly is this a knitting pattern? The constant advertising in Knitting Daily is awful enough, but false advertising?
