I'm always interested in how people write beginning knitting materials, so I was browsing through the new free eBook "How to Knit for Beginners: Easy Knitting Instructions to Help you Learn to Knit." I was impressed with how briefly yet thoroughly the guide covers the basics to get started. The writing style is inviting and direct. The illustrations and the sequencing make sense. But I stopped short when I got to the drawings shown with Project 2: Garter Stitch Dishcloth. The illustrations of the yarn-over and knit two together decrease are fine, but the stitches on those needles are in stockinette, not garter stitch. This may not be a problem for someone with a bit of knitting experience or a knitting coach sitting along side them, but it could be very confusing to someone learning to knit for the first time, since their own stitches below the needles would look very different than those in the illustration. Just my two cents comment on a well-done tool for new knitters. Thanks! -Deanna
