The simple prayer shawl only has four stitches at the end of row 1, Row 2 cannot K2, yo, purl to last two stitches, k2 because their are not enough stitches. No room for purl stitches. Maryann

Help! I have been working the Simple Prayer Shawl as originally written. It is clearly not going to be the shawl in the picture. Even with the corrections, I fail to see how the shawl will come to a point in the center back of the shawl. Shouldn't there be some decreases?

The lacy shawl is still not correct; you still have only 7 stitches on row 1 and row 2 magically ends up with 9 stitches and incidentally, you didn't mention how many stitches to cast on.

I am an experienced knitter and have used some of the free patterns and enjoyed them. These three, however, were an exercise in frustration. The first pattern did not seem to come out correctly and there was no way to really check the shoulder stitches.I ended up making the simple prayer shawl with the mistake in it; doesn't look too bad, but the sides are obviously different. The lace shawl was a shock; when you started with 3 stitches, added two and then somehow on the 2nd row, there were 7 stitches; I could have figured this out, but wanted something I could make quickly for someone in the hospital. I guess this is "haste makes waste", but I have noticed an incredible number of mistakes in current published books.
