Once I decided to knit with wire (without a pattern) just to see what would happen.

So I knit a little swatch, and then started to play with it...stretching it in different directions. Noticed that it looked like a fish! So I affixed it to some art paper, added an old broken piece of jewelry for an eye, and little jewelry bits on the ends of its "fins"...and floated it on top of an old blue swatch in a frame (blue swatch was the start of a wide scarf that I got stuck on, and it became the water for this fun and funny fish).

While staying with 3 granddaughters (tweens and young teens) for a couple of weeks, I thought I would have time to knit them up a little "mascot". No such luck, as I ran to keep up with their busy lives. But I had two dark buttons with me. And a flattened oval skein of fuzzy yarn. Hm. Buttons could be eyes! I sewed them onto the skein. And then it needed ears so I did two quick loops of I-cord and sewed them on. Added a quick stitch at the top to "separate his bangs", and voila - "Yarnold" was born! No need for a nose or mouth, Yarnold looked soulful with just his eyes peering up at the girls with a puppy-dog look!

They loved it!

I'm wondering the same thing as scrip10's comment. Knitty doesn't bother me too much as there is a website called Knitty. But yarny? I hate that term; makes me grit my teeth.

I got so tired of hunting for the remote--or remoteS--that I finally knitted a long cord and tied one end to the remote and the other to the stand next to our double LazyBoy--one on each side. Now I just tug, and there they are!

I use lengths of yarn to tie onto the handle of my suitcase when I fly. Withy so many bags looking alike these days, especially black ones, my own suitcase calls right out to me when it comes down the baggage chute.

Some great ideas for those of use who are always knitting...even if it's just swatches. The cake idea is my favorite.
