What you can see in the photos is the lovely &amp;quot;paneled&amp;quot; structure, with the front panel separated by the two side panels by &amp;quot;princess lines&amp;quot; of cable stitches. What you may not be able to see in the photo is that the side panels on the front of the sweater are formed by working on the bias: the stitches slant upwards on each side from the base of the cable towards the side seams.

The two sleeve/shoulder/neck pieces are joined vertically at the center back and then sewn to the tops of the front and back rectangles. This forms a modified saddle shoulder, with no seam around the armholes.
