Sandi Wiseheart

Sandi Wiseheart is the editor of Knitting Daily, Interweave's new online community for passionate knitters. Sandi is a talented knitter and crocheter whose popular designs have appeared in Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, and Knitscene magazines as well as the Spin-Off website. She lives in a hundred-year-old house in Colorado with her extremely patient husband Nicholas, four cats, a three-legged Australian shepherd named Buddy, and a really embarrassing amount of yarn. Sandi is also a beader, weaver, and spinner, so it is a toss up whether you will find food, yarn, or beads on her kitchen table. Before being lured away to play on Interweave's website, Sandi worked as the former managing editor of Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, and Knitscene magazines.

As the web marketing analyst on the team, I get to do what I always dreamed of...play on the internet and talk about knitting all day. Best job ever. As to the rest, I am a pretty simple girl. I like shoes and pretty packages. I love my family. I like chocolate and peanut butter and ice cream—you can imagine how I feel about peanut butter and chocolate ice cream. As far as I am concerned, dusk is the best time of day. I like investing in a good story— movies and books of epic proportion make me giddy. I like the beach best when I have Chinese food and a blanket. And I love knitting—can't imagine my life without it.

I am a member of the web team and the editor of Beading Daily. Despite my (very) limited fiber abilities, I enjoy writing about knitting and crochet on occasion. My work has appeared (or will appear) in Interweave Crochet, Crochet World, Interweave Felt, and Knit Lit the Third (Three River Press).

Howdy!

I'm Kat Pullen, web graphics gal of the Knitting Daily team. I'm not a knitter, but Sandi is patiently attempting to correct the situation (that story is fit for a post!), though I do crochet the occasional scarf or two. My real creative outlet is metalsmithing, where I make jewelry and other objects out of silver, copper and shibuichi.

I am also a Star Wars fanatic. Seriously. Don't ask how many costumes I've made. And don't ask me how old I was when I stood in line for the First Movie (yeah, Star Wars! Not A New Hope, Not Episode Four...Guess it is still a sore spot!)

Anywho, I'm the liaison between the Knitting Daily team and those dreaded computer web programmer types. If something seems wonky, I'll do my best to get it back on track.

By day I'm a web editor/developer/designer for Interweave Press, but at night and on the weekends, I skate as a Philly Roller Girl. I am not currently a knitter, but I'd like to learn someday! I keep telling the rest of the web team that when I'm ready to retire my roller derby uniform, I'll spend some time learning to knit. I just have too much energy to sit all day and do a lot of that (sitting) already in my full-time job.

In college I studied Conservation of Art and spent a year interning at Winterthur Museum in the Textiles and Paintings restoration labs. After college, I studied graphic design and computer graphics and worked my way into the web design world before most colleges had it as a degree program. I have way too many hobbies, including photography, gardening, fixing up my house (right now I'm ripping up old carpet and restoring the hardwood floors), traveling, cooking, and dining. I also enjoy crafts such as t-shirt surgery, and modifying cool thrift store finds into costumes or pillows or curtains. I spent a lot of my teen and college years beading things from necklaces to picture frames, although now I have a hard time finding a minute to sit down and make (or finish) something. Someday I'll finish those beaded curtains I started making for my windows!

Jason Hardgrave

I am a computer geek.

Now that you know the truth, I can reveal a little bit more about myself. I grew up in the little mountain community Coal Creek which is southwest of Boulder Colorado. I learned all the important stuff, how not to get eaten by bears, snow drifts can be bigger then you are, and computers. I took up an interest in actual computer graphic design and web design about 10 years ago, and have not looked back since. I have worked a a multitude of printing shops and web design companies before coming to work with Sandi and the Knitting Daily crew. Although I have no real talent for yarn knitting, I do my best to weave my way through the design and code of websites. After all knitting comes from the heart anyway, right?

Bertha

Bertha's kin have a rich heritage, beginning in the tailoring guilds of Europe, and continuing up through the salons of Paris and the showrooms of New York's famed Garment District. Although Bertha has not had a chance to visit her ancestral home in France, she does travel around the country modelling many Interweave fashions for shows, TV, and conferences. Bertha loves meeting her fans, hearing about people walking on the beach at sunset, and the feel of cashmere against her cotton covering.
