In the Fall 2011 issue of Sockupied, we imagined what your socks might have done over the summer months: Traveled to Paris? Gone camping? Sat on the beach with an icy drink? Now it's time for you and your socks to show us what you do in summer.
What's That About a Yarn Giveaway?
For the Feet on the Street feature in this year's Fall Sockupied, we'll feature stories of socks in summer from four of our readers. If we publish your sock tale, we'll send you one of the following four skeins of yarn:
Baah! Yarns La Jolla Original Hand Painted
Forget cool blue hues—the fiery orange shade of this classic superwash merino yarn will fit right in on the hottest summer days.
Spud & Chloë Fine
A substantial silk content makes this high-twist yarn shine. One skein is enough for a pair of Kirsten Kapur's Summer Maize Anklets from Fall 2011 Sockupied.
Lorna's Laces Solemate
With microfiber that helps prevent overheating as well as chilly toes, this yarn is perfect for summer. (Try it with one of our One Sock Two Ways designs!)
SMC On Your Toes Bamboo
#0259 Dark Sage
Bamboo viscose, nylon, and merino make this silky yarn cool and easy-care.
What Do I Have to Do?
Knitters shared their sock-knitting tips and tricks for Feet on the Street in the Fall 2011 issue of Sockupied.
To submit your story for Feet on the Street, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than July 2, 2012. Update: We have extended the deadline to 7/6. We strongly prefer stories accompanied by a good photo or two (or even a video clip) with no more than 75 words. Make sure to tell us the yarn and pattern as well as what makes your socks especially appropriate for summer. (Comments left below will not be considered as submissions.) If we decide to publish your story, we'll be in touch about publication details—and, of course, your yarn.
