Clarification:
The Front begins at center Front neck; the CO sts will become the gathered Front slit when completed. Work the instructions IN ORDER, as given. BUT...... the (2) side sections AND the center section are worked AT THE SAME TIME, each section following it's specific insts, and the specific instructions will be worked on different rows until all rows of the shaping have been completed, and the st counts are given for each section.

A note on sizing:
The finished sizes for this pattern seem large at first glance. Though these measurements represent the circumference at the hem of the sweater and throughout the body, the smaller gauge and traveling stitches at the yoke force the fabric at the underarm to gather into a functionally smaller circumference, creating a slight A-line shape.

When choosing a size to make for this pattern, consider that the functional circumference at the underarm will be approximately 37" (41", 46", 51", 58") for the sizes given, and choose a size that will give you a few inches of positive ease.

The yarn used for this sweater is classified as Worsted weight; the ball band recommends size 8 (5 mm) needles to get a gauge of 4.5 sts per inch. It has great loft and “behaves” nicely as a DK weight!

CLARIFICATION:

On page 78, the photo shows a crossover at the underarm. This crossover is achieved by working into the purl bumps behind the stitches on the needle. The instructions for placing the right-side purl bumps onto the holder are at the bottom of the first column on page 86, and the instructions for placing the left-side purl bumps onto the holder are at the top of the center column of the same page. Nothing needs to be done to these 6 (7, 7, 12, 15, 19) stitches until the back is worked (top of 3^rd column): With the WS facing, place the left-side stitches, the back stitches and the right-side stitches onto needle.

This cable (and the 9 rib rows above it) should alternate with the cable and 9 rib rows that begin with a k1.
