Preview episode 802, Top It Off!

Getting Started:
Eunny starts this episode off with a great pattern for lightweight yarn, the Silver Lining Hat. This pattern requires minimal finishing and is a fun, easy-to-knit hat that can be knit in a variety of colorways. Plus, it's completely reversible! Download the free pattern for the Silver Lining Hat, and visit WEBS, America's Yarn Store for the yarn used in this episode.

Eunny is wearing the Geraldine Cardigan from Knitscene Winter 2011.

How-To:
In this episode's How-To segment, Eunny joins authors and knitwear designers Courtney Kelley and Kate Gagnon Osborn. Surrounded by fun colorwork, Kate and Courtney demonstrate the Estonian technique of Roositud knitting, which is incorporating fun colorwork inlays into your knitwear designs. The hat demonstrated on this episode is from their book Vintage Modern Knits. Download the Norquin Beret pattern seen on this episode, originally from Interweave Knits Weekend 2011 special issue. Kristin and Shay are back on this episode with more crocheted edgings and trims. Kristin demonstrates a bottom-up crocheted picot edging that is both easy-to-crochet and adds a fun, feminine touch to your handmades.

When making the pom pom, fold the sewing/tying off yarn in between the cardboard. THEN wrap the yarn. When desired pom pom fulness is achieved, reach in between the cardboard for the yarn, thread it onto the needle and continue as demonstrated. This makes for less chance to stab yourself with the needle.
