American Wool, Ralph Lauren, and the Olympics: a good story

Oct 29, 2013

Today, our friends at Imperial Stock Ranch announced a very cool thing:

"About 15 months ago, we received a call from a product developer at Ralph Lauren, an iconic American brand and a long-time sponsor of the U.S. Olympic team. A design team visited Imperial Stock Ranch within the month, and by December, the company placed an order for Imperial Yarn. The designers were using the yarn to make sweaters for Team USA to wear in the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics. (We didn't know that at the time of course!)

Today, Ralph Lauren has released information about that collection and Imperial’s involvement, and now we can share it with you.  As part of their announcement, they created an incredible video about their made-in-America journey, and the Imperial Stock Ranch is featured. Click here and scroll down to see the video!" - October 29 Imperial e-newsletter

Imperial Yarn is featured frequently in Interweave Knits, so this news is really exciting to us here on staff. We're delighted to see Dan and Jeanne Carver's efforts in wool-raising recognized in this way, and we're delighted that something we can (and often do) knit with will be promoted on the world stage in such a way. Congrats, you guys.

Here's a recent project worked in Imperial's Tracie Too, a lovely sportweight wool. It would make a great holiday gift. If you're interested in knitting for men, check out this free e-book "Knitting Daily presents: 7 FREE Knitting Patterns for Men". And happy knitting!
