Finished Object: The Perfect Purple Pullover for Spring!

Mar 7, 2014

As soon as I saw the Bailiwick Pullover by Courtney Spainhower in the Knits Spring issue, I knew that I needed to have my own version in my closet.

For my version, I used the yarn called for in the pattern - Manos del Uruguay Serena in the Boysenberry colorway.  Let me tell you, if you haven't used this yarn before, you absolutely should! It's awesome to work with - super soft, great colors, smooth and non-splitty - everything about it is fantastic.

This sweater is a fun one to knit, with the textural interest at the top and on the sleeves and the body of stockinette that makes sure it isn't an overwhelming project.  I really love the "dropped" stitches on the shoulders and sleeves, very sweet little details.

Over-sized sweaters are definitely comfortable but not always the most body-conscious and on more petite folks (like myself) they can be a bit overwhelming.  I made the smallest size so that I wouldn't have too much material to fight with and I think the positive ease is the exact right amount.  The drape of the finished sweater is flattering, not to mention comfortable.

I see this sweater getting a lot of wear!

What projects from the latest Knits issue are you dying to knit and wear?
