Christmas in . . . February?

Christmas may seem like a long way off (or like it just happened!), but that doesn't mean we can't start thinking about it. After all, it's a yearlong job for Santa and his elves … so why not be an elf yourself and spread joy all year long?

The magic of the holiday season thrives 365 days a year thanks to Caron United's partnership with Children of Fallen Patriots. The two organizations invite you and your friends to knit or crochet blanket squares for the World's Largest Stocking, which will be unveiled during the 2015 holiday season.

February's pattern features a forest green
chevron design against a royal blue backdrop.

In support of this project, we're releasing a new free pattern each month for you to contribute to the stocking. And as for your yarn, fifteen cents of every skein of Caron United yarn sold will be donated to support college education funding for military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

It's easy to get started!

Download the latest Interweave knit or crochet pattern, then visit your local Jo-Ann Fabrics, Michael's or Walmart, or go to to purchase your Caron United yarn and get to work on your 3 x 3 foot square.

February's pattern features a forest green chevron design against a royal blue backdrop. The finished product will resemble giant stockinette stitches!

To complete this pattern, you'll need five skeins of yarn in varying colors. Fifteen cents of every skein of Caron United yarn sold will go towards college education funds for military children, ensuring a bright future for those who have sacrificed so much.

About Kathleen Cubley

Hello daily knitters! I'm the editor of Knitting Daily. I've been obsessed with knitting for about ten years now and my favorite projects are sweaters. I like the occasional smaller project, but there's nothing like yards of stockinette with a well-placed cable or a subtle stitch pattern here and there. I crochet a bit now and then—especially when I need to produce a baby blanket in time for the baby shower. I've been in publishing for 20 years and I'm finally exactly where I want to be: at the crossroads of knitting and communication. I live in Spokane, Washington and when I'm not knitting I enjoy gardening, snuggling with my dogs, swimming, reading, and playing in the snow in the winter. But, really, I'm pretty much always knitting!
