Holiday Projects: Favorites to Cast On Now

The Beekeeper Slouch by Josie Mercier

With the release of Interweave Knits Holiday, we’re all about holiday projects around here.

My knitting groups are starting to plan their holiday knitting, too. I have a knitting retreat coming up in October, and all of us who are going are gathering our patterns, yarn, and snack plans (priorities, right?). I’m going to take a couple of blanket squares, of course, but I’m also planning out my hat knitting designs for Christmas presents.

I knit the Koolhaas Hat a few years ago for my brother, and he LOVED it. It made its way into the dryer a few too many times, though, and it’s not looking so hot anymore, so I think I’ll knit him a new one.

And the super-cute Honeycomb Slouch is perfect for my mom and sister-in-law. I love the cabled band on this hat, and the slouch style is so flattering on most people.

My sister lives in Phoenix, so no hat for her. Maybe some dishcloths . . .

If you’re planning your gift-knitting pursuits, we have a pattern collection available, Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts Favorites, which includes both of these hats and four more holiday favorites. Here’s what you’ll get:

Favorite Holiday Projects from Interweave Knits
Clockwise from left: Koolhaas Hat by Jared Flood, Leadville Cowl by Annie Watts, Walker Scarf by Andrea Babb, Beekeeper Slouch by Josie Mercier, Ambrosia Cowl by Katya Frankel. Not shown: Dots Blanket by Debbie O’Neill.
Holiday knitting projects are on the docket! If you have babies to knit for, try the Dots Blanket knitting pattern.

Both the Koolhaas Hat and the Beekeeper Slouch are knit from worsted-weight yarn, so they make up quickly, which is always a good characteristic of a holiday project.

Even if you’re not quite ready to cast on for the holidays, these patterns are great ones to have in your collection, so download this special group of designs today!

P.S. Have you started your holiday projects yet? Leave a comment and tell me what’s on your needles!

About Kathleen Cubley

Hello daily knitters! I'm the editor of Knitting Daily. I've been obsessed with knitting for about ten years now and my favorite projects are sweaters. I like the occasional smaller project, but there's nothing like yards of stockinette with a well-placed cable or a subtle stitch pattern here and there. I crochet a bit now and then—especially when I need to produce a baby blanket in time for the baby shower. I've been in publishing for 20 years and I'm finally exactly where I want to be: at the crossroads of knitting and communication. I live in Spokane, Washington and when I'm not knitting I enjoy gardening, snuggling with my dogs, swimming, reading, and playing in the snow in the winter. But, really, I'm pretty much always knitting!
