Cast on 8 sts.
Rows 1 and 2: Knit.
Row 3 and all odd-numbered rows: (WS) K1, purl to last st, k1.
Row 4: (RS) K1, *k1, yo, k2tog, ssk, yo, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Rows 5-9: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 twice more, then work Row 3 once more.
Row 10: (RS) K1f&B, work in pattern to last st, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 10 sts total.
Row 12: (RS) K2, work in patt to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 14: (RS) K1f&b, k1, work in patt to last 2 sts, k1, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 12 sts total.
Row 16: (RS) K3, work in patt to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 18: (RS) K1f&b, k2, work in patt to last 3 sts, k2, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 14 sts total.
Row 20: (RS) K4, work in patt to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 22: (RS) K1f&b, k3, work in patt to last 4 sts, k3, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 16 sts total.
Row 24: (RS) K5, work in patt to last 5 sts, k5.
Row 26: (RS) K1f&b, k4, work in patt to last 5 sts, k4, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 18 sts total.
Row 28: (RS) K6, work in patt to last 6 sts, k6.
Row 30: (RS) K1f&b, k5, work in patt to last 6 sts, k5, k1f&b--2 sts inc'd, 20 sts total.
Row 32: (RS) K7, work in patt to last 7 sts, k7.
To see pattern more clearly, work Rows 31 and 32 once more, then BO loosely. Steam block, pinning out lace firmly.
