sigh. Don't feel bad, I love you anyway, and, well let's not talk about all the lovely sweaters that I have partially completed but had to put aside and begin again fresh because Savannah has outgrown them before I finished them.

But fear not my Sister! I have ceased to grow physically (and at times I believe mentally and emotionally as well, but that is a topic for another book - ahem - I meant DAY!!) This sweater will still fit me no matter when you complete it and I look forward to wearing it with pride!

I will be knitting a purse for my daughter to carry on her wedding day. I'm also hoping to get a lace shawl made for her, just in case.

I also would like to know what brand of beautiful blue yarn you are using. Are you planning the Viking Version Cables by Lisa Kay?? I think the heritage gift is the most wonderful idea!

I was about to say that I don't have any big handmade gifts planned, but I'm actually casting on for a sweater for my husband. He is a mushroom hunter, and I will be using yarn that I hand-dyed with mushrooms that he found himself!

But really, I wanted to comment that I can't wait to see your sister's CPH. What a great idea.

What a wonderful gift for your sister! One that I'm sure she will treasure for a long time. I'm making my brother a pair of wool socks from Knitting Traditions magazine that came out in the Spring of this year. He is crazy about wool (he's a hiker), so I made sure to buy a 100% wool superwash yarn. I'm looking forward to suprising him on Christmas!

Maybe not a "heritage gift" but a gift from the heart. My darling nephew, light of my life, ASKED me to make him socks. He's picked the colorway he wants and approved the pattern I've found. Now all I have to do is have the yarn dyed and everything and anything else on my needles will be dropped for this.

I love the idea of heritage gifts, but I sincerely hope this gift of mine does not last -- that he wears them up and out and wants more
