LEARNING TO CROCHET IS LIKE LEARNING TO RIDE A MOROTCYCLE: all you need is one special tool and enough attitude to rule the tool. These beginner accessories have plenty of attitude to help give your crochet a kick-start; the revved-up yarn and the sleek styling mean you’ll be on the road to cool success in zero to sixty flat. For more glitter scarves, see pages 46-47 of the Spring 2006 issue of Interweave Crochet magazine.

Finished Size: V-8 Scarf: About 2¼" (6 cm) wide and 86" (218.5 cm) long. Scarf will stretch lengthwise when worn. Go Girl Gauntlets: About 7" (17.5 cm) in circumference at base and 8½" (21.5 cm) long, unstretched. Will stretch to fit an average woman’s hand. Hold On! Cloche: About 17" (43 cm) in circumference and 6½" (16.5 cm) high, unstretched. Will stretch to fit an average woman’s head.

Yarn Lion Brand Glitterspun (60% acrylic, 27% cupro, 13% polyester; 115 yd [105 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]; CYCA #4 medium). V-8 Scarf: #150 silver, 1 ball. Go Girl Gauntlets: #150 silver, 1 ball (will make 2 pairs). Hold On! Cloche: #150 silver, 1 ball.

Hook Sizes I/9 (5.5 mm) and J/10 (6 mm). Size J is used only for the foundation chain of gauntlets and hat. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge for hat and gauntlets. Exact gauge is not critical for the scarf, although if your gauge varies widely from that given, you may have to purchase more yarn to complete your scarf.

Notions Tapestry needle.

Gauge 11 sc = 4" (10 cm) with smaller hook.

Skill Level Beginner.
