do you suggest any other yarns for this pattern.  The colorways are not particularly appealing to me.

The pattern says it's skill level is Intermediate, but the introductory page says for Beginners!

I am knitting this camisole, and stuck on the directions, please help!!!

Once you bind off for the armholes, the directions state to put stitches on a holder. The work the front. The pattern then states to work the pattern as established.  What does that mean? Keep binding off 6 stitches for each row, or knit for 3 1/4" in pattern I have been knitting in?

I have myself so confused, that I am hoping some response will get me back on track.  Yes, I am a confused beginning knitter!  Amy

Ameisme - You knit as you had been knitting, the section way at the top of the pattern where it's knit, purl the 2 center stitches, knit to end.  After you've completed the 3 3/4", you do that quick decrease round (where you knit X amt of edge stitches and K2tog the center ones).  This will make that kind of gathered effect you see around her neck on the pic where the stitch pattern changes.  HTH - Valerie K

continue working in pattern means say for instance you are working a rib and you bind off 6 sts, and the first stitch after that is is a purl st then you would purl it to maintain the integrity of the pattern, then the next st of course would be knit.  if you are working yarn overs and such you continue to do so until you are done with that.  as long as you have the right amount of sts after the cast ons and bind offs dont worry about it.  if it looks and fits good, really dont worry about it.  usually the only one that can tell you made a mistake on a project is you.

I too am confused about where the directions go after you complete the first decrease round in which you dec 6 sts at both sides.  The pattern is not clear or specific enough, as additional decreases appear to be needed to dec down to the point where you make the gathered round.  I think the pattern writer needs to review it!!  Because it looks like such a cute top, but I won't try it, if I do not understand the directions from the get-go.  This is hardly an easy pattern.

I made this top last month, with the Louisa Harding yarn it called for-it came out TOO CUTE.  It's a little heavy for really hot days, but I love the drape and fit.  

Well, I was going to download this as it implied it was very easy but then I saw "intermediate" and was confused - THEN reading all the issues - decided it was not for beginners!

Knitters... I've read the posts and now you've got me curious.  So... cover me, I'm goin' in!

Hi,  I am trying to make this in thespcified yarn; I  tend to knit loose, so when I did my gauge I used size 5 needles, and the swatch seemed fine.  As I am knitting it, the fabric seems very stiff and crunchy.  So I began again using size 6 needles and now it seems loose and "hangy" .  Do you think crunchy or hangy is better?  Did antone else have a problem with the feel of the knitted fabric ?  Thanks,

Hi CindyP, I think my fabric felt a little stiffer as I was knitting it. But it softened up once it was washed and blocked. I would probably go with the crunchy option! Did you save your gauge swatch? You can wash it and let it dry and see if you like the resulting fabric. It was an uber-easy pattern; I finished in about a week, and I plan to do another one soon.

a week???!?  it took me 2 1/2 months.  but i'm what you might call a fearless beginner.  it came out perfect!  i love it!!!

Thank you, Missy W.  I am again confused at the first dec rnd. At the end of the pattern line it says you dec a total of 4 sts.  Somehow, I read a dec of 8 st:  2 @ the beg of row, 2 on both sides of the next side and 2 at the end!!! HELP again, I'm not sure why this is so confusing, maybe with the use of this blog, this version of the instructions and the magazine I am just reading too much and not just trusting my knitting!
