Barrymore Slouch Hat is a wonderful knitting project by the editors of Interweave Knits.

Finished Size: 25½" head circumference at brim. Brim circumference is somewhat adjustable (to make a hat smaller than 25½") based on length of buttonband.

Yarn: La Lana Wools Phat Silk Phat (50% wool, 50% silk; 98 yd [90 m]/2 oz): walnut (light brown; MC) and Navajo tea (reddish-brown; CC), 1 skein each.

Needles: Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 8 (5 mm): 16" circular (cir) and set of 4 or 5 doublepointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); stitch holder; tapestry needle; size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook; two 1 3⁄8" buttons.

Gauge: 16 sts and 26 rnds = 4" in St st in the rnd on larger needle.

Knit this using SWTC Rock yarn.  It turned out so great.  I have gotten compliments from everyone, including my friends who think only grannies knit.  It was a bit more drapey than in the pic when using this yarn, but I love it and wear it all the time.

This great looking hat reminds me of a magazine article in late 1960's in Women's Day or Family Circle. Cover had a model in stocking cap. Patterns were shown on a two-page spread of models intermixed with manequins. I think all white clothes & hats of all bright colors.  I knitted many of them while I was still in college.  I would love to have a copy of that article if anyone has it in their stash!  (I forgot to take mine with me when I left that husband.)  I'm going to download this pattern even though I live in Florida now!

Does anyone know of any patterns likethis but for a beginner? This is a little too complex for my experience. Ive only been knitting for a few months.. But I really really want a hat that is slouched with room for my hair. Like a Bob Marley kind of hat.. Any hlp would be great! Thanks email me... Sarahbodak@yahoo.com
