Bust Dart Worksheet

Thank you Sandy, you explained things a lot better, and I do understand now. I tried to download the Excel worksheet, but my computer could not open it.

Do you need to have Excel to open the worksheet ?

AnnR,  Sometimes when I have had that problem I have been successful with saving to disk and then opening it from the hard drive.

What a great worksheet - and I'm not even planning on adding bust darts to anything in the near future. Maybe I should bust out the padded bra to give myself an excuse to add them.  The file opened without a hitch for me and I just wanted to say thanks for sharing it.

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying Knitting Daily and the fabulous job Sandi's doing in making knitting accessible to everyone. I'm an advanced knitter, and I learn something new from KD and Sandi at least once a week.

So, just....thank you.

Oh WOW! I wouldn't even have considered adding bust darts (not having much of a "figure"!) but I'll definitely have a go now - maybe it'll give the impression that I DO have some curves (in the right places, that is!!)

Thank you!  I have been entertaining the thought of making my own wedding dress, but the thought of it was way too daunting.  But everytime I think up of an excuse why I can't (i.e. how do I make a sexy dress that actually fits my curves instead of a drab curveless dress) you come up with these...bust darts and waist shaping!!! Looks like I'm running out of excuses! :) You're the answer to my prayers! :)

I can't open the spreadsheet, myself. If I don't have microsoft excel, what do I do?

I can't get the excel spreadsheet to open, and I do have excel.

I have had people come to my rescue about opening the excel spreadsheet. I downloaded the free "Excel Viewer", but still didn't have any luck. Don't know what else to do. Sandi, is there any other way you could send it?

Could I echo the problems with opening the file others seem to be having? I can download it but not open it via Stuffit, which is how it's delivered. I have a Mac, and Excel but it's not opening. Any help much appreciated.

I have Microsoft 2004 for Mac (inlcludes Exel) and I had no problems opening it. When I clicked download it placed a folder on my desktop.  When I opened the folder and clicked on Bust Dart Worksheet, it automatically opened Excel.

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks as if this will be a good tool.

Thank you Nicholas for helping me download the worksheet. I downloaded Exel Viewer yesterday, and it didn't work for me. Today I downloaded the free www.6-zip.org and the worksheet comes up thru the Excel Viewer.

The file comes compressed (with .zip extension). You first need to uncompress the file, using something like <a href="www.7-zip.org/.../a> (free) or winzip on PCs, or Stuffit on Macs (Stuffit comes standard on all Macs. You may need to open Stuffit and do this manually, although usually one just double clicks the file and it creates a directory containing the archive contents). On some computers, file decompression is automatic; others, not.

After you have opened the archive, look for the .xls file, which is the actual spreadsheet. You can open the .xls file in either Excel Viewer (free from Microsoft), <a href="http://www.openoffice.org">OpenOffice</a> (a free office full-featured suite), or Microsoft Office.

I opened the worksheet,butr it had numbers already entered, if you are another size say 58 inches at the bust what do you do with your own measurements?
