It will be absorbed when you Kitchener the heel but expect it and don&amp;#39;t be upset when you count your stitches.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Elizabeth Zimmerman also recommended making the heel on more than half the stitches. I have found that two stitches on each side works for most sock gauges. You can do this by making the waste yarn slightly longer or by knitting a short gusset before putting in the waste yarn as Golden Apples does.&lt;/p&gt;
