The 100th episode of Knitting Daily TV celebration continues! WEBS, America's Yarn Store, is giving away two skeins of Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk Hand Dyed yarn for one lucky winner to make his or her own Silver Lining Hat, seen on episode 802.

If you missed Kathleen's post on this reversible hat, you can read it here. Plus, watch host of Knitting Daily TV Eunny Jang demonstrate how to knit this unisex cap:

The Silver Lining Hat designed by Kirsten Hipsky shown on Knitting Daily TV episode 802 is made out of Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk Hand Dyed in varigated colorways. However, this hat lends itself to solid yarns if that's more your personality. Easy to knit and completely reversible, this hat fits into anyone's wardrobe and allows the wearer options. Plus, who doesn't want alpaca and silk on their head? Its luxury! Check out the nine colorways that WEBS offers.

Comment on this blog for your chance to win!
WEBS is graciously giving one lucky winner two skeins of the Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk Hand Dyed yarn to knit the Silver Lining Hat in whichever two colorways he or she would prefer. Simply comment on this blog and let us know which two colorways you'd choose for your Silver Lining Hat. The Silver Lining Hat  pattern sparks so many ideas  for color combos. I love that it's unisex, great gift. I think I'd love to try rainforest and lichen; the combo seems warm for those frosty New Hampshire days. Thanks for the tutorial.

This is such a clever hat - simple silhouette but with plenty of interest from the yarn.  I like all the colours, particularly Red Riding Hood and Seaglass.

I'm making one right now from stash, but it won't be as cool because the yarns are not coordinated like the Valley Yarns shown in the sample.

The one I'm working on is a charity knit. If it turns out well, it may well become this year's xmas gift for my three brothers.

The Silver Lining Hat is a lovely base from which one could experiment: add earflaps ala pockets, add a few cables, or integrate a bit of intarsia. I like the combination of Red Riding Hood and Atlantis and letting the colours create atmosphere. This pattern reminds me of the one-sided hat I knit in the fashion of a Klein Bottle )topographic shape). Knitty has an article at   knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTkleinbottle.html

Just taught my mom magic loop - took her a while to figure it out - the big AH-Ha was when she said "This is exactly like knitting in the round - except you turn the work"  Mom is 85 years young - together we share our love of knitting.

If I am selected - I'll give the yarn to mom - so she can make it with her new found Magic Loop skills.
