Win Prism Art Yarn to Make Your Own Bias Shawl Pattern

Mar 4, 2012

Favorite guests Laura Bryant and Barry Klein are back on Series 800 of Knitting Daily TV with more how-to tips, techniques, and patterns. On episode 803, Laura and Barry discuss color blending using various fun, colorful yarns that can be knit together. These tips are great for stash-busting, as they can utilize those small amounts of yarn that you just can't bear to throw away!

Laura and Barry are also helping us celebrate our 100th episode season of Knitting Daily TV with a generous donation of yarn! See below for details on how you can win Prism handyed yarns for your stash.

See Laura and Barry with expert Shay Pendray on episode 803:

Does your stash of yarn look like a fruit salad? Full of various colors and textures, varying in weights and yarn types? With Laura and Barry's color blending tips, you can organize your fruit salad stash into color stories, and all those tiny bits of yarn you've been saving all of a sudden have great potential in a garment! To avoid one of these yarns sticking out too much in a finished piece, you can always hold one yarn throughout the garment, as seen in this episode with the sweater on the table in front of Shay. Or, be adventurous and knit all those pieces together for a great shawl or scarf.

In this episode Shay Pendray is sporting one of Laura Bryant's designs, the Bias Shawl (also seen at right). This unique shawl (or scarf) is the perfect example of color blending and stash-busting. You can download the pattern for the Bias Shawl online at KnittingDailyTV.com.

WIN PRISM YARN TO KNIT YOUR OWN BIAS SHAWL!
We're giving one lucky winner some unique Prism Art, Inc. yarns to add to their stash to knit his/her own Bias Shawl. The handyed colors and textures of Prism yarns add fun elements to this shawl, and we want to make sure you have them in your stash! Simply comment on this post for your chance to win. Tell us about your yarn stash! Have you organized it into color stories so you can see what stash-busting, color blending opportunities await your needles? What color seems to appear most in your stash? Are you into bright, textured yarns? Or, is your stash full of natural wools? How would your stash benefit from some of Prism's yarns? Do you need more color, more texture?

We'll randomly choose one lucky winner from all the comments at noon Central Time on Monday, March 12th, so comment before then for your chance to win. We'll give you enough yarn to knit the Bias shawl completely in Prism yarns, or simply add these yarns to your stash for more exciting opportunities in stash-busting projects.

It sure would be nice to knit with yarn that wasn't the cheapest synthetic worsted weight available. My other purchases have been made at thrift stores where more synthetic worsted weight yarn is available in limited colors. For me, winning this yarn would be as special as the 100th episode of Knitting Daily.

My stash is, for the most part, organized by type: either by brand (e.g., all the Brown Sheep in one bin) or by use (all the baby weight yarn together).

I'm definitely more of a color person than a texture person; I knit a lot of socks, so I'm always looking at fingering weight yarns (although I most recently bought a wool acrylic blend that haloes like mohair, for a loose pullover sweater that I saw in a magazine awhile back).

I don't have much of a stash, and definately don't have enough to make a big project, maybe a few purses.  I LOVE the Prism Suprise yarn, and love this chance to win some.

I have my stash organized by fiber and weight. All my acrylic and wools are separated and my sock weight separated from my worsted weight etc. I have mostly blues because I love blue but would love to add other colors to my stash.

I love to knit and have bits and pieces left over from various projects as well as inherited yarns from my mother when she died.

I store my yarns by weight/type in color families.  I use baskets stored on a shelving unit.  Some of the fibers have only small amounts and these are in plastic bags.  I am knitting for charity: hats, mittens, slippers, squares to combine into small blankets.  I have knitted for nursing home patients, hospital babies, and battered women shelters.  I am constantly on the look-out for small projects that will fit into a charity project.

I have recently gotten interested in prayer shawls but have not yet begun to make them.

I enjoy the Knitting Daily TV show so much and have learned so much even though I have been knitting for over 45 years.  Laura and Barry are among my favorite guests on the show and this project looks great.  I have made diagonal lap blankets but have never done one combining yarns in this way and with the fringe.

I love pinks, blues, purples and aquas and would love to make a shawl in those colors.  Thanks for all the great ideas and the chance to win a Prism yarn stash.

I have always been so affected by color.  We've moved many times, and I've always felt Ill at ease until the new rooms started to "bloom".  --- My stash has 1/4-1 skein of nearly every color there is, but the yarns aren't all compatible.  I would love to have enough of the right yarns for the Prism scarf.  It would do double-time in my house when I wasn't wearing it.

Thank you for the video! Enjoyed learning the tips about colour-blending and stash busting! My stash isn't big (but is constantly growing). They're sort of organised by weight, and then yarns I bought around the same time are together. So not very well organised at all but not being a big stash I can find what I want quite easily. Colour-wise I mostly go for purples and pink-purples, also some blues, reds, pastels, browns, very rarely greens and oranges.

My stash is stored in plastic bins, according to yarn weight. I have little room for storage, so sometimes when I'm contemplating a new project, I'll take all the yarn of a particular weight out and arrange it on the floor by color. I've discovered amazingly beautiful color juxtapositions this way that I probably wouldn't have thought of otherwise! I have lots of worsted-weight yarn in solids and heathery tones, which I use for quirky colorwork hats. And I'm accumulating a nice stash of lace-weight yarn, but it's taking a long time to use it up, since lacework is so labor intensive...What my stash is lacking is textured yarns. I love them, and tend to use them up quickly when I have them!

My stash isn't that big, since I mostly buy for a particular project.  What is more difficult to resist are occasions when someone else is clearing out their stash and there is something interesting which I scoop up.  There's not too much novelty yarn, but a fair amount of cotton and a batch of wool which I thought I might use for felting.

My stash is organized (now) into weight groups.  It has always been put away neatly, but recently decided that more order was needed.  Instead of delving into all the boxes, I now only have to pull out the boxes that have the required weight, and then do the color thing at that time.  To help find them, I have written the contents of each box on the outside, and have also put them into a little book that I keep with my patterns, so that first I look at the book to see which boxes I go to, then go to the corresponding boxes to get the colors.  As I have many different types and colors, this seemed to be the best solution for me.   My storage area is very large, and as a result, my stash is too. The boxes I have found to help the most are the clear totes with wheels that slid onto the shelves easily,  and keep the yarns clean, fresh and ready to use.

It is horribly gray and gloomy this morning and I think the bias shawl would be just the ticket; sunny colors to treat the eye and warmth to chase the chill.  Makes me smile  . . .

While I started w/ acrylic yarns (machine washable  seemed desirable when I was knitting things for my children forty years ago), I am now obsessed with the wonderful world of wool with all its marvelous colors and textures, and being able to make felted items which I enjoy!  I just recently started working with different types of yarns, combining for textural effect, and  am a newby at blending colors!  Instinctively over the last year or so I have been saving all the leftover little bits of yarn and am making some fun hats and handbags. I found this video especially helpful for blending and adding the new pieces in without leaving ends!  I have a huge stash of simple acrylic yarns, a few w/ interesting textures, color ranges into cranberry reds & dark grape purples to neutrals, ecru, off white,greys... Where I've only recently started knitting with wool, I  have  fewer colors... I love great color/textured yarns... mostly  I need more subtle "inbetween" colors in blues, greens... esp would like more texture, and yes some fun colors. Prism yarns would be a great addition to my stash!

I don't have a GIANT stash, but I am a bit of a yarn hoarder--I'll take almost anything and use it for charity knits, blending with other things, accents, wherever I can figure it.  I LOVE color, but I don't want it to get insane or ugly, so I'm pretty careful about how I use it, and it generally turns out pretty nice, if I can say so. :-)

Unfortunately, at the moment my stash is boxed up and invisible, as I had to give up my craft room when our 3rd son was born.  It's taking longer than expected for hubs to get me some other craft space set up!  I tend to gravitate towards blues and purples in smoother yarns, so I think I'm missing some texture!

My DH bought IKEA storage units with 24 open cubes in the vain hope that I will eventually shrink my stash so that it all fits in this one space. It's interesting to look back and see how my color taste changes over the years: I have my red phase, my green phase and my gray phase. Not sure where I'm at now, but after a dark winter those yellows and oranges look pretty cheery!

I have my yarn in clear plastic bins in my yarn armoire.  The bins are easy to take in and out of the armoire, and have clear sides so I can see the color families.  Even if I don't have time to knit, I find it rewarding to bring out the bins and play with the color combinations.  I rearrange them to find pleasing combinations, and to get inspiration for new projects.  I have many aquas, and greens, but my largest colleciton is the orange/purple/fuschia combos.  I shop the sales bins because often a single skein will give me a whole new idea for combining what I have at home.  Prism yarns have such luscious colors and textures.  It would be great to play with them.

My odd balls are in a mash in canvas bags.  This is great for unexpected color happenstance.  But is has a tendency to run through some rather drab colors (browns, greys, purples).  Bright would really add a spark to my palette.

on Mar 11, 2012 6:12 PM

I started my stash in 1986 when a yarn shop went out of business, and I bought all their yarn. A lot of it is still there, all the vintage brands along with my sock yarn and latest hand spun finds on Etsy, all waiting for just the right project.  It's real eclectic--to me anyway. My yarn has its own room too, that's how much I love it.   My colors are pinks, fuschia, plums, and some natural color yarns.  I would love some Prism for my yarn collection.  It's beautiful.

Prism yarns are the best ! I would love some for my next project. My yarns are stored by name and weight. All ilke yarns are stored together. Leftover yarns are grouped together in bags of mixtures of colors with sketches and notes for another sweater design. Most are cotton blends as I live in the south south east. I would love some bright colors and textures to live with my soft colors.

My stash is organized in project categories such as sweaters, baby items, socks, etc.  The majority is neutral colored animal fibers.  It would be fun to spice it up a bit with such fun, colorful yarn.

on Mar 11, 2012 4:16 PM

I've always admired Prism yarns, but I have never used them.  I do have my stash sorted into wools, cottons and blends.  Sock yarns are separate from DK and worsted.  The colors are a little sorted.  I shudder to think of the crazy afghan that would come if I used all of my leftovers together.   After watching the video, I can probably blend some of mine with Prism to create something colorful.

ShannonJ wrote

I might be a bit over-organized, but I sort my yarn first by weight followed very closely  by fiber type.  Within the individual cubbies/drawers I group by color familly.  One glance at my stash within their cubbies makes immediately clear I am not afraid of color.

Organizing my stash in this way works best for me because when I want to make something the first idea in my mind is usually either which yarn weight would work best for it or which type of fiber would suit it best.  These are important aspects that are determined by the purpose or function of the article, as well as whether I'm knitting or crocheting it.  From there I decide upon my color scheme.

Because I like playing with textures I usually use smoother yarns.  However, lately in both my stitching and spinning I've been challenging myself to experiment with loftier and more novelty-inspired yarns.  I simply love pushing my limits and learning new things!

LOL)  I try to have at least one project going that is for using up left-overs from other projects such as the mitered square blanket.  I have just learned to knit socks so the stash is going to get some judicious enhancement here shortly.  The Prism Art yarns I have used in the past have been a joy to work with.  I would love to see and handle the variety of yarns in this collection.

Hi,

I have learnt so much about colour from the knitting daily T.V shows with Laura.  I  have also bought the DVD 'knitting with colour'. enjoyed it so much that I then bought the fibre-arts with colour DVD, to see if I could learn any extra tips from her lovely DVD. . Before I saw Laura's lessons about colour. I would have said I had a natural eye for colour. But what I have learnt helps me to understand why a colour looks the way it does next to other colours. Also because I have learnt about the weight scale, I can now use colours I did not like before or did not like to use. I am using my new found knowledge in my crochet projects. my stash is mainly full of solid colours,in pink, blue, black, white, green, yellow, grey. I would love yarns with ombre' or chine' colouring. I love bright saturated colours too. I love mohair and silk together. fluffy and shiny makes a lovely contrast that make you wan't to   touch it.. I would love to use quality yarns more but sometimes these are too expensive to buy at once, so I have to use some lesser quality instead.

I would love the fact that they would last and be able to be passed on to others in the family.

regards Jill

from the U.K.

My stash is so disorganized...I realized I have yarn in nearly every room of the house, with the exception of the bathrooms! I love textured and novelty yarns. Can't live without Trendsetter and Prism yarns!! I love all colors and my stash reflects this, so this shawl is perfect!

I keep some of my yarns in see through long zippered bags with cedar sticks under the beds. And projects that people give me to finish for them in different designed bags with the yarns.  On top of my computer table I have a 3 tier separate squares for  4 ply yarns  visibly stashed in (recycle plastic newspaper sleeves)  The 100% cotton yarn  for dishcloths are in a soft barrel in another room. The closets have there share of Homespun yarns.  I'm a happy lady to likes to share and make small items to give to people,   I get a smile from them everytime.

I have a bag of washed but unspun fleece - more a trunk than a bag, if I'm honest.  Another rack of yarn ready for projects.  Yet another sack of natural dyed fibre ready for mixing and blending.  My addiction only really got going about 3 years ago when I learned to spin but I've been knitting for 40 years and have recently upped the production rate - very satisfying though there's always something new to learn and different to make - thanks for feeding the addiction.

I have my stash in bins, I try to keep a certain fiber and colour per bin.  Sometimes it's a single yarn, such as a bin of Noro Kureyon, or a bin by a certain company such as Cherry Tree Hill.  I also have bins designated for charity knitting yarn, and when I cannot think of what to do next or suddenly need a portable item, I'll dip in and start a Red Scarf Project item or a baby sweater or hat and mittens set for Mittens for Akkol.  I also have the bin of family gift project yarn and one bin of "me" yarn - projects that are for me, and which I try to open more than just once a year.

It would compliment the wide variety of textures, from boucle to ribbon yarn that I have saved. I hope to make the shawl or scarf when I finish my current project, so the added Prism yarn would really get me going on this project. More color would make the shawl, or scarf more attractive. Thanks for the great idea, and the possibility of winning some of your great yarn.. Sincerely, Linda Bruce

Mine is a  very small yarn stash; it fits in one tote. I have mostly solids in warm colors. I have wool/bamboo and cotton yarns. I would love to mix it up with the wonderful colors and textures of Prism yarn.

Also I put all the yarn for a project mostly for afghans in a plastic tote with a copy of the pattern I'm going to make the yarn with, that keeps me from taking a skein for another project and then not being able to make the project I got the yarn for. my yarn stash is HUGE! collected over 45 years of knitting, it now fills 6 large milk crates and 2 standing cupboards. seriously. oh, and there's an under-bed box. and a bag of novelty yarn. i must be crazy to enter to win more yarn!

to a non-knitter it might seem like a kaleidoscopic jumble, but it's actually very organized, not by color, but by  yarn type and weight, both full and partial skeins together. one bin is acrylics, and there's the wool, over here the wool acrylic blends, sock yarn there, felting wool here, up there is cotton, and in THIS bin is the gorgeous navajo churro wool from that trip out on the reservation a couple of years ago (which should felt beautifully), and next to it you'd find yarn donated for my charity knit, "flagstaff hats for the homeless."

i spend 4-5 hours a day knitting, and hope to use it up before my children need to figure out what to do with it all.

I have tried to use their method of combining colors, but have discovered that I have not yet reached the stash-level of different yarns to really creat the type of items they do. So, as I've told my husband, I must buy MORE and DIFFERENT yarns to raise the level of my stash from monochromatic and mundane to vibrant and beautiful. Only then will I be able to (try) to so a scarf like the one demonstrated...I'll keep trying until I succeed.

I recently built a yarn wall in my home office so that the better part of my stash is now visible and ready to enjoy every day. I love looking at my own 'Yarn Store" (pun intended) everyday. And now I can find yarn that was previously hidden in a full dark closet. Purple and blue  are my most popular colours, with some whites and pinks coming close behind. The fall colours just don't look good on me! I prefer bright colours, NO tweeds, only merino or superwash if wool, love silk and like cotton. I used over 10 Prism yarns to make a beautiful VK swirl coat several years ago and loved the interplay of all the colours. I always get great compliments when I wear it. I used the peacock colourway for that. Enjoyed the colour class with Laura at VK Live NYC a year ago. Would really love to win more of her yarn to add texture to my collection! My son has recently requested a sweater where the colours blend and reverse from one end to the other, much like the sweater Laura is wearing on this web page. So that will be my next challenge.

I love the way Laura Bryant blends yarns. I got her book "The Yarn Stash Workbook" before I even HAD a stash, and am still trying to acquire some of her magic when mixing yarns for scarves. I currently have my yarns organized by weight and texture: smooth worsteds, boucles, chunky & bulky, etc. Nothing beats taking a dozen different yarns and tossing them together on the table to see what works. I think what I need are more mixed color yarns - I tend to have too much solid color, and I really like tone-on-tone or striping effects.

Upstairs:   Carefully tended bins of cashmere, wool, silk, cotton, rayon, linen, mohair, angora, alpaca, but no acrylic anywhere. All yarn in transparent ziplock bags to prevent major moth damage. The bins mainly transparent to lure the knitter -- choose me, no, choose me.  Whenever I see a new pattern I have to make or a magazine that cries out - make my pattern,  I sit on my King bed, and draw out the bins and dream project.  Each large 4X3 foot bin displaying a peak of what is inside, tantalizing, a flirtish grin on her locking mechanism. Bins of pinks - one for hot, fuchsia, bordering on red but still pink, mature lipsticks pinks; the other for pale girly pinks, some bordering on pastel, but always pink.  Red colors, one bin for the pure reds - tomato, blood, tuna, salmon, red sunset, poppy, red velvet cake, fall maple leaf;  the other bin for muddy, earth, warm reds:  garnet, syrah, merlot, burgundy, russet, Takhi tweeds with red the major color.  One bin for browns: everything from deep chocolate to tan, beige but not cream because that's in the white bins. Then the blacks, in a dark non-transparent bin - black doesn't need to entice since it goes with everything - black flecked with handspun white, an artisanal yarn picked up in Italy, cashmere, most of it now made into a Snugglie for my son; black tweed, hardy, wanting to be made into cardis; but mainly, the fine dark black with a sheen of black, the pure Filatura di Crosa cashmeres, australian cashmere so fine it feels like silk; Two bins for greens - Why? Because my favorite niece loves my hand knit items and green - 1 bin for light greens, spring leaf, mint, clover, golfcourse grass, creme de menthe and the other for darker = olives, mature oak leaves, tweeds, forest, khaki, placid stream. Three bins for blues because everyone loves blues: one for baby blues, pastels, light, gay, lovely. Then is the medium blues, including the turquoise, yes, it's in the blue not the green, colors of bright water, bright sky, cornflower, hydrangea, some royal is in this bin, some in the next; then the dark blues, navy, dark stormy water, here you may find the grayish blues, smokey, colors of fish fin and stormy wave.  Two bins for whites, because what doesn't go with white? One for only white cashmere and white handspun cashmere some with blends of cream and tan; the other for whites, verging to ivories, light tans, light beiges.  One bin for yellows, transparent again because sometimes I tend to ignore this sunny, bright, yolky, sunflower color, tweeds, harris wool, cashmeres, light for baby, darker yellow for that perfect person. Then the orange bin: Hermes, tangerine, regular orange, persimmon, tweedy light orange, orangey brown, yum.  Then the specialty bins: one just for the supreme cashmeres, Hand Maiden Swiss Mountain Cashmere/silk, variegated wonders, in double bags that sometimes prevent me from feeling, colors like jewels; Prism cashmere silks as well, other Hand Maiden cashmeres; Joseph Galler and riotous Mountain Colors superfine/pashmina, cashmeres and cashmere silks from Knitwitches, Fyberspates, others unnamed but still glorious. No color segregation here, these colors don't need order, they need to be made into shawls, stoles, ties, scarves, etc.  Another specialty bin of silk, Artyarns and other fabulous yarns.  But don't make me go downstairs to the yarns in bags, color coded, waiting for me to complete their projects, tumbling up, bagged upon each other, with plastic identity labels.  I don't know how my husband puts up with this hoarding.

I tend to be drawn to blue, green and purple, so my guess is that they are the most prevalent. I love texture - often buy a yarn just because of it's texture, figuring I can come up with something to do with it. Now I know what! Thanks, Laura!

I'm a new knitter, so I don't have much a stash to organize at this point.  The projects I've done so far have been with natural fibers.  I have seen a number of interesting stash buster patterns I'd like to try once I have a stash to speak of!

My yarn stash is kind of depleted right now.  I love the bright colors to knit scarf's, mittens and hats.  I love pastels, neutrals and solids for afghans and sweaters.  What yarn I do have is organized by brand name.

Currently my Stash is in the process of being re-organized due to the closet rod disaster of Dec. 2011.   BUT-- my Stash definitely reflects my love of EarthTones, and especially Autumnal Colorways.  That said-- I am currently being drawn to Sage & Lavendar, Orchid & Pistachio, Purple & Green combinations.  Thank you so much for the opportunity to win.  I really enjoy Shay's segments with you; even from the days onher needle point show; which I watched faithfully every week.   Many Blessings

My stash is organized by color since that is the most important consideration when planning a project!  All the other elements can be adjusted!  I have mostly purples and blues in the stash, but have been collecting reds lately.  I love how the shawl is scrappy, but the colors are not garish.

My stash is organized by weight and fiber. Yarn for a particular project is in a ZipLock bag with the pattern, Yarn bought on spec is bagged, and leftovers of similar weight a fiber are bagged together. Bags are stored in bins labeled as to weight and fiber, or purpose (baby yarns, chunky yarns). The bins are on shelves in a bedroom closet.

on Mar 8, 2012 10:39 PM

I couldn't find my last comment here... so please forgive the double, if it shows up.  Going to make one of these shawls with detangled yarn.

Once upon a time, I had a yarn room.  I had yarn organized by weight, intended use (ie... baby projects, feltables, kids, lacework), shade, and solid/multi.  I even had a "special yarney yumminess drawer", for that luscious expensive indulgence.  Alas, I no longer own that house, and yarn has been in totes, in states of chaos and confusion that mostly boils down to "what I'm using soon", "what I'm destashing", "what I've recently received", and maybe a few by weight.  I need to organize quickly when I get into my new house next month!!

Indulgence on Ravelry

I learned so much from that clip, and definitely plan on using up some stash to make one of her designs!  I have a huge variety of yarn from novelty to handspun/dyed.  But, what this scarf called out for that I have  - is my MEGA tangle.  I solicit tangled yarn.  I love to de-tangle.  My most recent behemoth of a project came in a box the size of the ones full of apples in the produce section.  All of the yarn within will be my own, aside from 2 ribbon yarns that the original tangler would like back.  I worked on it for a while around the holidays, but have been distracted lately... this is the perfect motivation.  There are yarns in there I never knew existed.  Fluffy ones, smooth ones, shiny ones, tagged, wool, lace, cotton, fun fur, polar fleece.  All kinds of colors from brights to neutrals.  I think I shall enjoy blending the treasures in that box of yarn (I even got a set of headphones out of there!!  lol) into something artsy and beautiful.... oh, and yes - I could always use some beautiful Prism Yarn!  Long color changes please!!

What a wonderful video and I love your colors! My yarn stash, like my watercolor pallet, tends to be in basic colors: light and dark blue, light and dark yellow, red, violent rose, burnt sienna.  My stash also has a lot of acrylics, which I keep thinking makes more 'practical' gifts for others.  But when I actually knit something, I buy new yarn in muted colors and patterns, in soft alpaca or bamboo, or textured wool of various weights, thereby not diminishing my stash at all!

I have a very large and eclectic stash.  Anything from Prism would find a very happy home with me, and would certainly be knit into a treasured gift for a friend, a family member, a Bat Mitzvah girl, a college graduate, or might be donated to an auction for charitable fundraising.   I first knitted with Prism Wild Stuff over twenty years ago and it's been true love ever since!

I would describe my yarn stash as bright colored and multi-textured funky yarn.  My yarn is sorted according to category, instead of color.  I have a stash of baby yarns, and the rest are sorted by what I want to use them to make- scarfs, hats, etc. Personally, the more colors and texture a yarn has, the more I like it.  I LOVE prism yarn with all of the different/funky colors/textures.  It's the yarn that keeps on giving, because it's a pleasant surprise each time a new yarn appears while knitting with this yarn.  I used to splurge and buy prism yarns, but now that i have 3 kids I don't get to buy it as often as I would like.  I would LOVE to make this bias shaw with prism yarn!!!!!

on Mar 5, 2012 6:42 PM

My stash is fairly small - thus far.  I try to purchase yarn per project but went off the rails when my lys went out of business.  What I have is primarily worsted weight and organized by color.  Thank you for the generous giveaway!

Stash? Organized? Does not compute! Danger! Danger! I do 99% of my yarn shopping at thrift stores. I often  get large bundles of yarn (5 lbs or more) at irregular intervals, usually comprised of a mish-mosh of single or even partial skeins in all colors, fibers, weights and types. There is no rhyme or reason as to what is in the bags. If I'd started 35 years ago, maybe I'd have a system. But today it would be the The Thirteenth Labor of Hercules. I doubt if even he could lift the stash, let alone oganize it. Which is my way of saying "I don't have enough yarn - please pick me"

I have been knitting for quite a few years but I do not have a HUGE stash of left over yarns. I keep up on projects to my best ability but needless to say I do have a few "favorites" that I will "knit up some day"! . All the yarns I have are catagorized by yarn type, in zip lock or zippered linen bags, all in a HUGE wicker hamper. Most of my stash consists of natural/ earthy colors. I LOVE the many natural colors of sheep and alpaca !  I have white, cream,  grey, and brownish burgandy, but do not have a variety of texture. In cotton,my blues, greens and yellows have made many bright washcloths and towels. I'm not sure how these would go together but???

I would love to be able to knit up "stash leftovers" into something I could enjoy. My mother always made a quilt of left over fabrics from my dresses she sewed and I still enjoy the quilts today.... many (40) years later:0)

Thanks for the ideas to help me do something with what I already have... not just to BUY more:0) Although... there is that yummy sock yarn, and some new shepherd's wool I've been eyeing at my LYS:0)
