I love to make more unusual things..... my daughter is involved in trying to save a 1930's lido, and they recently had an open day to raise awareness of the project and I knitted a 1930's swimsuit for the exhibition, which caused a lot of hilarity! Cant believe people wore those.

Last ear I made a Mr Bean bear for my daughter ( shes 22!). This year my 18 year old son wants a Harry Hill knitted character, but I cant find a pattern anywhere. So frustrating!

I'm looking forward to enjoying this site, and have already spotted some nice glove patterns....

More than 4000 of you voted, and the winning pattern for our next KAL is Fresco Fair Isle Mitts. I'll be using Classic Elite Fresco, in the colors shown in the pattern.

As for the schedule for this KAL, since it's a shorter project than the Central Park Hoodie (I'm almost done with both sleeves!), how about we give ourselves until December 18? Perfect timing for gift-giving, whether to a loved one or to ourselves!

This is the official post for all KAL comments, so please post your comments/questions as a reply to this post or to someone else's post in this thread. I'm calling it the "puppy post," because of the puppy icon!

Questions? Let me know!

Knit on,

I have knitted some baby blankets and throws just using the basic knit stitch. This week I knitted some dishcloths.
I'm looking for a really strong yarn. Would prefer 100% wool, or at least some blend

with wool. I'm not knitting with this wool. Instead, just imagine a ball of yarn running

around on concrete. So far, I have problems with the yarn fraying/shredding. I have tried

100% wool, and 80/20 acrylic/wool.

Any suggestions? Sorry to be so vague about it's use, but it's harder to describe than

just simply saying what it is!

Also, would quite possibly be looking to contract someone to make yarn for my

company in the future if that's what it takes to get a strong yarn.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can have this lovely child start on? The best part of this is that I live in NJ and she lives in VA so this will be a long distance tutoring; I will be there one week to get her started.

If you know of any books or projects where she would see progress quickly I would appreciate it. OR if anyone knows of any really good yarn stores in the Alexandria VA area who are patient enough to work with kids I would appreciate the names so after I start she would have somewhere to go for help.

I need this info before 11/5/09, if possible. TX!

I have practically all these patterns. I guess its good for a new collector. Also, I think the price is terrible. $15??? What for ? A thick glossy cover and 1/2 a magazine filled with ads. Your holiday issue is a better buy. But I found a few patterns in there that I have made before, like the Majolica sweater that I just made for my granddaughter, aged 2, but in much nicer colours and a different yarn, Naturally merino and silk. I used the older magazine during the summer.

Searching for Yarn on-line

Hi (or Bonjour) from Montreal,

I'd like to buy yarns on-line instead of in town, as I've not found any shops locally that meet my needs (my French is not that good, and I'm not comfortable explaining what yarns, or project I'm working on). Any tips on good sites to check out?

I love looking at wool and knitting patterns. I live off the grid and have two dogs and three horses. I spend my summers working in the garden and riding my horses. Winter time is for TV and knitting. I hope to find some great patterns as I just got lots of wool for my b-day.
