My family and I just moved to a rural town in Nevada, not everyone is friendly and the shopping is very minimal. No craft stores here. I'm 37 and I have a 2 year old a 23 month old and I'm 8 months pregnant. (Could be why not alot of people say hi.) I don't have the free time to break out the nail polish and curling irons so I keep my sanity by knitting and crocheting when ever I can. I knitted a beautiful blanket for my daughter with lazy daisy flowers on it, I currently have an afghan I am working on and my monks cloth just arrived so that I can make the same swedish weaved blanket for my new baby that I made for my other two children. Happy stitching everyone. Thanks for being nice.
I know how it feels to be in the middle on nowhere. I just moved back to Arkansas from a small town in Texas (middle of no where). Welcome!! :)
Welcome! I live in a fairly small town in Kentucky, I can relate to the problem of not having any craft stores around. I do a lot of shopping online. We do have a Michaels, but that's about it. Nail polish and curling irons are overrated...who needs polished nails when you can knit instead? Happy knitting!
I'm from El Paso but havn't lived there in over 18 years. Thank you for the welcome and I too hope to move again.
Thank you for the welcome, I just moved here from Kentucky, but I'm from Texas. I have lived in small towns in Kentucky also. I lived in Central Kentucky then Eastern Kentucky and finally lived in Owensboro (western Kentucky) for a year before I moved here. The best of all was Owensboro, the craft stores were great. I knitted alot in Owensboro and had more time then to paint my nails. The only thing I don't miss about Owensboro, is the humidity. Happy knitting to you too.
I know what you mean by living in the middle of nowhere! I live in the midcoast area of Maine and have for 30 years. If you aren't born here your "from away" and always will be! The area is probably the most beatiful place one could live with it's ragged coast line. I have a veiw of the small city across the harbor, the light house on the breakwater, and the outer islands. There are mountains behind the city that appear to rise up from the ocean. The sunsets are spectacular in virbrant shades of oranges, reds, and purple. However it's lonely! If your not from here those who are don't want to associate with you and those from "away" treat you as if your not worthy of thier attention!
How long have you been there? I have been here since July of 2007 and I would say we have the same kind of people here. Lots of cowboys and horses and cows. Where you live does sound very beatiful. Where I am you can describe as high desert. The elevation is 5060 ft. and even though we have mountains no purple sunsets. I hope you pass your free time with some ever faithful yarn at your side. I know when ever I finish a project I feel great. Be strong....as us women are.
P.S. I don't know why but the time posted is 7 hours ahead. It is 1:39 a.m
