I noticed today is the sock post that Ann Budd, who is always wonderful, but suggested that working a top down sock finish with Kitchener stitch. I have tried, with great success, the Sandi stitch, and will never again subject myself or any knit project of mine to the kitchener stitch. Isn't it time to retire that thing? Sandi stitch forever!
Hi Shelley...
Actually I think it's good there's a choice. I prefer the Kitchener st myself, but that may be because I do a lot of seaming such as the Mattress st w/ a darning needle. So to me the darning needle is what I'm more comfortable with. I can do the other one + have whenever I forgot to bring a darning needle w/ me. The darning needle is smaller for another thing.
Everyone finds different things easier I guess + we all have our preferences. Nice that Sandi posted this alternate because I think it helped a lot of people who weren't "wired" to do the Kitchener st. Now more people are making nicer toe finishes...win/ win!!!
Take Care.... Andrea
