I am using Plymouth, Covington 100% mercerized cotton. My swatch stitch guage went form 5.25. stitches per inche to 4.33 stitches per inch after hand washing and flat dry. The row gauge went from 6.69 rows per inch to 7.5 rows per inch. I did tug a the swatchin all directions before measuring,
Will the weight of the sweater be enough to compensate for the change of row gauge or do I need to add rows before I reach the underarm/front patterns? Also how do I keep the pattern area from being too short if I need to add rows there?
Thanks, I am very new to this. Diana
