Just read a term to describe a yarn - it is DK for double knit. Anybody know what the term means in relation to the type of yarn.
DK refers to a British term for a yarn that is slightly finer than a worsted weight but a bit thicker than sport weight. Well, some sport weights anyway. With more and more yarns being produced overseas for the American market, a lot of the yarns you find are a bit more in the DK range than what was commonly worsted weight. Most of the knitting books/magazines have charts in them that help explain this better, giving a suggested needle size, wraps per inch, etc. to help work out the equivalents. Hope this helps.
Hi - try this link if you like to read up on your question. http://knittingcrochet.suite101.com/article.cfm/yarnweight
And all the women who were wise of heart spun with their hands, and they kept bringing as yarn the blue thread and the wool dyed reddish purple, the coccus scarlet material and the fine linen. Ex. 35:25
