My name is chiara and I learned to knit when I was 10.
For many years I've many things to do and refused me to know where needles and yarns were!!
Last year I had a very bed experience (in life for a person of 35 years old!!!) : I had an ictus.
Now I feel good and in 6 months I started to move my right hand and I started to walk very well again, but something in my brain is changed : now I feel the time passed on, I feel changed of seasons, now I started to live again!!!
And of course I've started to knit again!!!! When I returned at home from the hospital (after 3 months) the first thing that I did, was try to knit again: in first time was impossible to do that for me, 'cause my right hand didn't answered, but with costance, day after day, I do it again (and with considereble results!)
Now I started a top for myself, but I've just finished a pullover for my youngest son that he has 4 years, and immediately after I'll started a pullover for my oldest son that he has 8 years old.
Thank you for your time and enjoy life every day!!!!
Regards, Chirara.
Dear Chiara -
How wonderful that you were finally able to knit again and you have completed that sweater for your little son! Yipee!
It sounds like you have had a very bad time.
I was moved by your post and I will be rooting for you to get better and for knitting to continue getting easier again for you.
all the best,
Addie
New York, NY
I hate my friends.
Dear Addiefleur,
thank you so much for your support. I'm stopping for a minute to do a camisole for myself 'cause today is sunday and I can work much more than other days!
Now in Italy it's 5 p.m. and it's so hot that I love stopping !!!
Than you again!
Chiara
HI!
Where are you in Italy? I love to knit knit knit and my daughter lives near Rome. Would you know of any yarn shops there? I have been a couple of times to visit her and been to busy looking at all the oh my g-d sights. Any thoughts? I will be visiting periodically, how lucky am I??!!
First day on knitting daily and its great.
Ciao ciao!
Cathy
Chirara:
I am glad you are healthy enough to knit. My aunt taught me to knit when I was 10 years old also. I have started knitting int he past 2 years after almost 25 years of not touching my needles. You are much braver than I am knitting pullovers - I have done scarves, hats and some lace. I hope to start a sweater fro myself this summer.
What part of Italy are you from? My father's family is from Venice and my mother's from Sicily.
Take care.
Gail

Hi GailK@2,
I'm near Alessandria, between Milano and Torino, in the North Italy.
I'll be in Venice in 4 hours!!!
I have done scarves and hats too but now I finished a top for myself and tomorrow I'll start to do a pullover for my youngest son Martino.
I'll do in three colors (stripes) : brown, beige and light blue , and it will has raglan.
Thank you and regards.
Chiara.
Chiara:
Sounds like a pretty sweater - I like brown and blue together. I have some coral yarn I want to start for myself.
My maiden name is Dalle Molle. Is that a common name?
Hi Cathy,
I'm far from Rome : 8 hours by car! I'm beetwen Milan and Torino near Alessandria, in the north italy, so I don't know any yarn shops in Rome.
Now I buy yarns and cottons in Valenza or in Alessandria, the two cities I'm beetwen, and sometimes I buy yarns in shops on-line in Italy or in England.
You are very lucky to visit your daughter periodically, I stayed in Rome one time and for few days but I love it!
Ciao.
Hi,
no, Dalle Molle is not a common name, I think that it should be from north or middle Italy!
What do you make with your coral yarn?
And now isn't better to make something with cotton? Do you like cotton?
Regards
My Papa's family is outside of Venice - his father was a stone mason when he was young. My Papa came here as a young man (in his early 20s). He died when I was 18 (35 years ago). We don't really know too much about the family - I don't think men are very good at keeping in touch with their families once they move - he was 88 when he died.
I am at work right now - I work at a law firm in Chicago. Talking to you is much more interesting than what I am doing.
I love cotton yarn. I am finishing a cotton tote bag for my sister for her birthday (July 5) today. I got the pattern from Lion Brand Yarn website and am making it in a cream color. It is a pretty open weave pattern. I hope she likes it.
The coral yarn has silk in it and has a really nice sheen to it. I am thinking of using the Allegoro Simple Summer Top pattern (kind of a sleeveless shell) that I found on Classic Elite Yarns website. I have some work to do in my garden when I get home tonight and then I want to start on the sweater.
Hi Gail,
now in Italy is morning and I'm making a moka of coffee!
You are very lucky in Usa 'cause you just go to internet and download a pattern for everything! I treied to download something but the idioma is very difficult for me!
About your job I know what you are saying : I worked for 7 years in a law firm and it doesn't wonderfull job! After I worked for a firms of jewels in Valenza and now I'm at home to do mom!!!
I have two gardens too : one is very little in front of my house and one is bigger ( I don't want a garden 'cause I don't have the green "pollice" but my husband wants one and the only thing that he does is : goes to the garden and says "ooohhh it's wonderfull"!!!! and doesn't touch anything! )
Your yarn is very beatifull; I have a sort of "fettuccia" with cotton and linen inside and perhaps I'll make something for me but I don't know what!( I have just 4 balls of 50g)
Take care
You are very lucky to be able to stay home with your 2 kids. I had to work when mine were small. Angela is now 28; Stanley is 25 and Katherine is 21. Angela has her own apartment (she is a high school English teacher) but the other two are home. Of course they all show up for dinner!
If you like, I can try to get you copies of patterns you want. I can either try to attach them to my emails or mail them to you.
My husband waters our vegetables and flowers but not much more. I think all men are the same. I have tomatoes, beans, peas, zuccini, eggplant, basil, and sage in my garden this year.
Let me know what patterns you want. Have a great day.
yes, I'm lucky 'cause I stay at home but it was not a my idea : til the end of the month of March I work half day in a small firm of jewels , we paint the jewels with nails, and I love that work! But after this big depression I stayed at home definitely...maybe in future I'll work again! Of course I don't stay at home for long time: my husbund has many classes of yoga (he is a teacher of yoga) and in september, when the guys will return at school, I'll go every morning to his palestra to do the homework!!!!
Your garden is wonderfull! I have only two plants of tomato, basil, three plants of peper and some salad! Here, where I live, it's no possible to have vegetables but only plants for garden...but I have do that in a little corner of my garden !
Thank you so much for your offer to send me by mail copies of patterns..maybe I ask you something!
I send you my e-mail : chiara.romussi@libero.it
Regards, Chiara.
