To make a long story short, I had an unfortunate run in between a new cat and my dog. Needless to say, my finger got the brunt of the cat's teeth. I still have cat and dog. My finger has heeled.

I am a continental knitter (picker) and after about five minutes of knitting, the yarn chafes my scars something nasty. Band-aids don't quite hack it. I broke down and bought a Norwegian knitting thimble. This solution should eliminate the chafing. A perk is that I will be able to do some easier color work.

To see what I'm talking about - follow either link. The experts say the metal ones are the best.

I'm almost done with my dad's sweater - 1/2 the sleeves are all that's left. I'm using steeks on the armholes: much faster knitting.

Ulrike,

I had to dust off a bit of German from when my mother taught me. I used:

"for your contribution and your referring to the practical “cord assistance” for the Norwegian samples!"

I plan on using the thimble on my son's sweater. He's wanting a Nordic yolk sweater.
