Hi to you, too! I have been here for some time, but I haven`t really spent so much time figuring out how things work... Can`t stay away from the knitting for too long, you know! I`m Laila, from Norway -pretty long way from Australia!

Hi Laila,

Norway is a long way from Australia Smile

I love knitting and crochet.  I just finished a scarf - its been around for about a year but now finally finished.  It will be part of a christmas present for a friend.

Lucky friend!

I some times get this urge to crochet, but knitting and quilting is what I love the most Smile

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one having projects around for "some time" before they get finished.....Stick out tongue

I did a search for all my unfinished craft projects (knitting, crochet, sewing, jigsaw etc) and found I have 9 items started and 10 I would like to do Surprise

Then on the weekend, I went into a craft shop and found the most beautiful cross stitch of a poodle (honey coloured) and one on bees and bee hives.

The poodle is for a friend who hasn't been able to find a cross stich or tapestry of a poodle and the bee one - its for my dad as he is a bee keeper.

Big sigh - these have been added to my ever growing list.

My list is now down to 20 items (once I took that scarf off it) LOL

I haven't tried quilting.  My friend with the poodle, her mother does quilting - some of the things she does are so beautiful.

Have a great day.

So, you live in Canberra!  We had to do an assignment in grade school once, "Write down 50 countries with their capitals."  The next day, the headmistress wrote on the blackboard, "Canberra is the capitol of Australia, NOT Sydney or Melbourne!"  Anyway, I hope to visit Australia (and New Zealand - I have a sewing teacher who lives there) sometime.

I LOVE knitting with a passion, but I sew and crochet as well.  I have a quilt project somewhere, but it was my older female relatives who were the quilters.  Somewhere we still have a couple of my grandmother's quilts - very well worn - they were meant to be used!

My current top project is making socks for an area boutique.  I am making them of an ivory wool/silk blend.  They are my own design and have diagonal ribs with a beaded cuff.  I have a pair and a half more to go before I take a batch to them, so I'd better close and finish.

Best wishes to you!

Hi Rebecca

I think I have only ever knitted one pair of socks ever but I think it was a very long time ago because I vaguely remember it.  All I can recall is using 4 needles.  Done a made quite a few baby booties though.  Your socks sound lovely.

I have never tried my hand at quilting.  One of my best friend’s mother does quilts.  She started doing them last year – some amazing stuff she has made.  One of the items she put into the local fair and won 1st prise.  I have often wanted to put some of my work (any work really) into a fair but never have.  I might do it one day.

I think I love crocheting more than any of craft that I do, only because I can see the results a lot quicker.  I crochet fast so it makes it easier to finish a jumper in two weeks compared to months with knitting.  I remember one of my cardigans taking me 10 years to finish - I will admit though, there was a lot of plain knitting involved.  I like patterns – they keep me locust. J  Then again, I recall a cross stitch I have done several times (a raccoon) – I love doing that picture because I just love the way the tail turns out.  I just, any craft I do that I get enjoyment out of – I just love.

I guess, I should head off to bed too.  Its been a really long day at work and I need heaps of rest.

Thank you for dropping a line.

Take care

Jasmine
