I am new to the KAL thing, but have always wanted to try my hands at Fair Isle and would be delighted to attempt any project, large or small.
Hi Kathleen,
I am interested in doing an easy KAL...... in Fair Isle....somewhat new to fair isle.
also, Intarsia....again, an easy project in this.
I would like a tutorial in charting a pattern, if anyone can direct me to a "site" re: this topic.
thank you.

I made a chart for an intarsia pattern I did for my grandson (trucks and fire engines and cars). I got ordinary graph paper and just colored in the squares with colored pencils. Of course it was ll st st so there was no charting of different stitches.

Kathleen,
I would do any fair isle KAL. vest or hat. I love hats, easy fast and very portable.

how about something like the Freyja sweater that was on this site recently. Nice sweater and only part of it is fair isle. I've done some in the past- It's not as hard as it sounds.

I'll definitely put a couple of fair isle projects in the voting mix for the next KAL. I like the idea of a shorter project like the Freyja Hat in the Fall 2009 Interweave Knits--something we can do in the month of November, maybe for a holiday gift or something.
November is almost here! When will be vote on the next KAL? I forget where this voting announcement appears. Will it be on the Knitting Daily page sent daily? I suppose I will find out. I have really enjoyed this KAL for the hoodie. I am so looking forward to cool enough weather to wear it! Should be soon.
Hi Peggy. Here's what I posted in the main KAL thread:
Even though I'm not done with my CPH (one sleeve to go, and then the finishing!), I'm thinking about the new KAL. I'm going to do a survey of projects in the Knitting Daily newsletter on 11/6, next Friday. The next KAL will start about a week after that, so keep your eyes peeled.
I'll start a new official thread here.
Stay tuned,
Kathleen
in answer to the above questions and the survey of projects for the 11/6 KD newsletter, i vote for the cactus blossom pullover.
yay!

Although I am a new knitter, I would be interested in doing a Fair Isle project...like a hat, mitts, something small that a beginner kntter would not find difficult. I have knitted socks, hats, scarves, slippers, but nothing larger. I only started knitting in September 2009, so I am really new to knitting.
How does this work, and how long do you get to finish the project?
I assume everything will be explained
Happy Knitting
Jane
I am interested in a kal fair isle too. I have been meaning to try a pattern, but was sort of intimidated. A small project would be ideal, just to get my needles clicking. I really like the scarf pattern.
I saw your general email about the CPH coming to an end and since I am fairly new here was not aware of the KAL project. The finished sweaters are just fabulous-so many Over Achievers - really cool!
I intend to join in the next project whatever it is..My question is about how to "join" in.
DO we all buy the pattern/book as advertised or is the particular pattern sent out free?
Do we buy a KIT of yarn or work on our own. if this is all described somewhere ( and it probably is!) just refer me to it!

Hi Janet,
Once the pattern is chosen (click here to vote—the voting link is near the end of the blog post), you'll either buy the pattern or download it if a free pattern is chosen, buy your yarn, and start in. I'll post an official KAL link in the Kathleen's KAL forum, and we go from there.
It's a lot of fun!
