Unfortunately, I will not be knitting this KAL.  I voted for the hat, and I would never wear these.  So , good luck to you all

kate4:

Kelleigh, how I remember those days!  I used to buy a pair of needles once a month out of pirated grocery money!  Hang in there...

Kate,

Thank you for the idea and for your encouragement.  I will do my best. Wink

Knit on,

~Kelleigh~

i use the 2 line post-it tape.  so that way if it is a long chart i can cover the whole line with one piece of tape.

i have to admit, i'm like Beth, & Jo Schwartz and not knitting the mitts.  But I am knitting along with you all. I’m making a cute fair-isle chullo (hat) with cats on it for my great niece for Christmas.Devil

Kate, I didn't get your email. Can you send it again? The address is kcubley@interweave.com. Or maybe you've gotten your pattern by now? I hope so!

These are the yarns I'm using.  They are Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino (55% Merino wool, 33% Microfibre, 12% Cashmere.)  The colors will go with all my University of Arkansas game attire!  I'm starting today.  Hopefully they will do the pattern justice.

Like Barbara, I live it a warm climate (Florida) and have no need for mittens either. Rarely we get to wear a sweater here, but I like the knit along idea so I'll wait for the next one.

Like Barbara, I live where we don't wear mittens, and rarely get a chance to wear sweaters (Florida). However, I love this idea and hope I can participate in the next one.

Thanks for the link. It is great! Wish I would have watched it before I completed one glove! I may have to tear out the first one, as I was so afraid of having holes that my stitches are way too tight. :-)

Thanks for your help with this, Kathleen.  I just sent another email.  Hopefully, I can download the pattern before my flight on Monday.  As a terrified flier (who unfortunately flies a great deal) I always like to have a project in hand that makes me concentrate!  Indifferent

I am still having a heck of a time with the chart.  I can read it but somehow I seem to constantly be one or two stitches off by the end of the row.  Fortunately it is not too glaring with the multicolored yarns I am using but I am very glad I am not using the bright and district colors I would have ordinarily used.  I got so frustrated I just knit stripes when I got to the middle of the chart. I will go back to the chart pattern with renewed hope now and see if I can keep it straight.  I am not sure why I am having such a bad time with this.  But I am knitting onward. (My son will probably hardly notice that there is any design at all on these.   Or maybe I should rip back to the ribbing as it is not all that many rows...........

A friend of mine said she uses a magnetic thing she uses for counted cross stitch to keep track of where she is on the charts.  The post-it notes have worked well though-- I thought.   Or maybe I would help me to increase the size of the charts somehow.  Perhaps I can figure out how to do that on the printer....

Even with the mistakes I think my mitts do look lovely with these yarns.  Even if I rip I will take a photo of them now.  I am so glad to be part of the KAL because otherwise I think I would just give up on these!

Knit on friends.

Peggy,

this may sound tedious but in addition to using the post-it to mark my row i count every stitch, on every row.  i started to do this because i can't really "see" the pattern unfolding as a whole so i always lose my place even with post its.

so the post-it's keep me on the correct row and the counting keeps me on the correct stitch.  so obviously i don't do these types of color-work or stitch pattern, or lace projects while watching TV Geeked !!

Got my yarn Fri. And sat down Sat. knitting. Did goof up on the ribbing, I got it done then noticed that I used a size one needle went ahead finished it and it fits perfect. I also had a problem with a hole on the inner joint of the thumb. Pattern says pick up one stitch, so I picked it up in the jiont of the hand and thumb knitted tightly in the area for a couple of rows still had a hole. So I sewed it up. can't tell but would like to figure out how not to have the hole in the first place.

So going to attach pictures of my first Fair Isle anything.
