It sounds like you are trying to knit the hole for your thumb to fit through or you are starting to knit the round that will start the finger holes - (hand and thumb gusset".

rnd2 - you have knitted one round this is just below your thumb, just above your wrist. Correct me if I'm wrong because it would mean that you are at a different point in your pattern

sl m - slip your marker

p1-3 thumb stitches -  purl the next three stitches.

Keep trying and don't be afraid to un-do part of your work and try the section again!

I'm having the same issue with the p1-3 thumb st.

The issue is that when the p1-3 sts bet. markers comes, it is immediately after the palm stitches and before you would go into the top design stitches.  This is for the right hand glove, so the markers are on the exact opposite side of the work. I though Sandi might have left off additional markers, but there are not three additional stitches to P into, so doing the next three stitches would shift the whole design three stitches.  Also, in looking at the image of the gloves, the thumb is in stockinette not garter, so the pearling doesn't make sense to me on the gusset either.

Rnd 1: P1, [sl 1, k2, psso, p2] 4 times (fingers), pm, k1 (thumb gusset), pm, k22 (palm), p1.

Rnd 2: P1, [k1, yo, k1, p2] 4 times, sl m, M1L (see box), k1, MR, (see box on page 00) sl m, k22, p1—3 thumb sts bet markers.

Rnd 3: P1, [k3, p2] 4 times, sl m, sl 1, k2, psso, sl m,k22 , p1.

  • Does this mean I should cross the entire work to put in the pearl stiches and then cross all the way back to start the top design in the next row?  Which doesn't make a lot of sense.
  • Or should I use an additional needle and P in the stitches with extra yarn and then go back to the pattern and knit through.
  • Or should I M2 so I have the extra stitches to pear into, put wouldn't that make an odd increase on the right side of the glove?

Help!  I'm making these for a Valentine's day gift, so need to get going.  Any help would be most appreciated
