All I see are sizes up to 2xl or 3 xl if i can find them. I want to knit for my big men 5xl and 6xl a plain simple
pullover or plain simple vest.
What would the technique be to do this ?
1. Find a pattern that you like hat has a schematic with measurements.
2. Take a sweater, vest or sweatshirt that your man likes for fit.
3. Compare the relevant measurements of the garment to the pattern measurements - esp. across the shoulders, depth of armhole, waist, hip and length. If it's a crewneck, you need the width of the neck. If it's a V-neck you probably won't need to make changes.
4. Unless the shape required is unique to the man, you can add the additional inches to the garment based on whatever gauge you are using, and use the pattern directions for armhole, shoulder and neck shaping.
5. If you are an experienced knitter and know what I'm talking about with short rows, you can refine the fit by putting in a few short rows at relevant points on the front and omitting them from the back. If you don't know what I'm talking about not to worry - it's not necessary by any means.
If you've knit vests and sweaters it's not hard - just a few calculations and away you go.
