Avatars are the small pictures that go with your profile. If you have one it will show up under your name every time you make a post (if you don't have one you just get the yarn ball).

It's really easy to add one. Just go to the top right of the page and click "Edit" (it's up there with your account name and sign in/out). The first thing on the Edit page is the avatar section. Make sure you have the "Enable Avatar" button set to yes. Clicking browse lets you choose an image that's saved on your computer... just browse through your computer files until you find something you like, choose it, and press ok.  The "avatar URL" space is for choosing an image that isn't saved on your computer. If you're out and about on the web and you find an image that you'd like as your avatar, just right click on it, choose "copy image location" from the list, and paste the info into the "avatar url" spot.

Hope that helps! (And have fun choosing an image, I think that's the hardest part Big Smile)

That little picture on the left.  If you click on "Edit" at the top right of the page by your name, it will take you to where you can add one.

It seems to me there is a definite connection between knitters and cat lovers, as seen especially on this thread! Is it because they help us untangle.... uhm, tangle... yarn?

 Hello Yvonne,

I think the real answer here is that both cats and knitters have a real love of texture. Cats are very tactile animals - mine love warm cosy areas to sleep in. In my house that usually means something knitted or quilted. Knitters, well here I speak of myself but I know many others share this compulsion, just cannot resist touching, handling yarn, knitted items too. For myself this addiction extends into fabric.....

I have no wish to be rescued from this happy state. My cats are purrfectly happy too!

Hello Mandy,

Hello everyone,

This is also a test for the avatar.

I, too, cannot resist touching, handling yarn, playing with colours and knitting. But as I do not have a cat -though my 4-year old daughter does not stop asking for one- I used a drawing I just made. Won't say if it actually looks like me...

A nice day to all of you !

Marielle

 Marielle,

Your avatar is great fun!

Enjoy some knitting today, if your four-year old will let you.

Mandy:)
