I've been knitting up heavy wool socks and other outerwear for the orphanage in Akkol, Kazakhstan throught the Mittens for Akkol Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mittens_for_Akkol/

This is a great, chatty group of knitters - and a wonderful way to use up all the wool yarn in your stash! I love to think about the teenagers who will be using these mittens, hats, socks, vests, and sweaters that we knit as it gets 40 degrees below zero over there in the winter! Hope you'll join us!
