Downloaded sockupied app and summer 2013 emag for ipad. Seems to not have the library button or navigation arrows to leave the issue once it's open. No longer have option to purchase other issues like I did before downloading this issue? Am I missing something?

download of PDF fails - how do I get my pattern?

I have Sockupied Spring 2012 and wanted to download the patterns. When I asked for the vertical stranded one the URL came up as:

file:///C:/Program%20Files/Interweave%20eMags/Sockupied%20Spring%202012/pdf/19_ourpathscross_socks.pdf

and it failed to load - said it couldn't find it. I suspect the %20 inserts are wrong, but how do I fix it so I can have my patterns?

Call for Toe and Heel Constrution Methods

Hi everyone,

Long-time lurker...

O.k. so, I am looking for any and all methods of shaping sock toes and heels. I am researching for a book proposal and would like to find toe and heel methods to include in the book. Send me your old, send me your new, send me whatever you have, even if you just made it up. Creators of certain construction methods would, of course, receive credits in the book, if it ever gets published. To be honest, I am in sock hell. In a quest to create the perfect sock for myself, (long story, and shapely legs...) I have set about trying different toe and heel constructions only to become discouraged before the sock really gets started. Nothing I have found , especially for toes, seems to be just right. And, let me say that my book and pattern collection is on the verge of being obnoxious. It seems to me that for other sock knitters like me a compendium of all things heel and toe related compiled into one book would be very beneficial to the sock knitters' community. Besides, all of my sock yarn is sufficiently aged and I need work socks. Would anyone help?

Conversion chart for sock size stitched

HI:

I am new to this site and would like to ask a question. Do any of you have or have seen a conversion chart for sock sizes?

A salesperson at a local knot shop had one (didn't ask her to share) that identified sock cast on, heel size, gussets stitches, etc. for size 2-4 4-8, adults.

It was in chart form and certainly could benefit me or others.

I am taking a sock knitting class and was told to bring size 4 double pointed needles. What is the best knid for a new sock knitter? Wood, metal, plastic? The yarn is a worsted wt acrylic.

The Newest Face in the Class

Hello,

My name is Stacy and I'm rather new to knitting. I've attempted to be a part of Knitting Daily's community several times last year, but due to computer problems where I had a bout of hackers (as I suspect) deleting accounts and trifling, I'm having to start over fresh in the New Year. My computer has fresh security on it and everything is working swimmingly so far.

Last year, there were a lot of cowl patterns in the winter. I'm an out of work writer and so am trying to come up with one of my own on the fly. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this might be accomplished?

I have been trying to teach myself to knit socks and so far I haven't had any luck, so today I decided to join the group and see if this will help. I'm new to knitting but I've crocheted for years. I am married with 6 kids all are teens and adults now so I have spare time on my hands. I just had my 4th major back surgery and the recovery time is long! I am in process of downloading the book now and I'll check in later after I decide which pattern to use. I'm excited and I'm hoping it goes well!

Call for Submissions: Sockupied Fall 2013

Sockupied, one of Interweave’s eMags, is seeking articles and designs for our Fall 2013 issue. Sockupied focuses on technique-rich, clever patterns that enable knitters to take charge of their socks and customize patterns for optimal fit and structure. Past features have included converting heels, toes, and stitch patterns; repairing socks; great bind-offs and cast-ons for socks; and other topics.

We are looking for a variety of patterns, from traditional techniques to modern styling of unique yarns; each issue of Sockupied generally includes five patterns. One recurring feature is “One Sock Two Ways,” which features a design that makes the most of handpainted yarns (with effective ideas for breaking up pooling) and is still attractive and fun to knit in solid colors. Final yarn choices will be made by the editorial team; full yarn support is provided.

As for articles in particular, we are seeking technique articles that accompany a unique design to display the featured technique; these may or may not be created by the same person, so feel free to submit ideas for technique articles without accompanying patterns. Our particular focus is on techniques that help knitters take charge of their sock knitting, especially resizing, customizing, etc. We are also interested in historical or ethnic sock techniques and designs. When considering an article, keep the technical opportunities for slide shows, video, and other interactivity in mind.

Deadline for proposals: November 15, 2012

We will be accepting submissions sent by email as well as mail.

Compensation: Sockupied pays a flat rate for articles and designs. Yarn is provided.

Submission Requirements:

• swatch of proposed stitch in desired yarn weight and fiber.

heel on cable socks

Im stuck on the heel part of the cable sock. It says work on the 44 sts but then says work in pattern for 17 sts and turn. The funny thing is I did one already but cant seem to figure it out again. HELP

Toe up 2-at-a time worsted weight socks

Hi all, this is new to me but here goes. I have just learned the toe up 2 at a time method of sock making and I'm hooked. I have a friend with very cold feet and he likes to wear worsted or bulky weight socks when he sleeps. I can't seem to find a pattern for a simple 2-at-a time worsted weight sock for men. I am an experienced beginner but not to the point of being able to modify patterns that call for dp needles. If anyone has a link or suggestion for me I would sure appreciate it. Preferably it will contain needle size, yarn requirements, be free, and slow and shiny enough that I can follow it. Thanks & Blessings!

How do I play my new Sockupied eMags?

I just bought 2 eMags, and downloaded them. When I clicked, it asked me if I wanted to Run. I said yes. Then it asked if I agreed to download Adobe Air, of course, I agreed. After that, I get NOTHING! When I click either eMag, it asks about Adobe Air, again, and it's a vicious cycle. I went to Adobe.com and tried to download Air, and it said it was already installed, so what's the magic word, to get this to work. I expect things that I paid for, to work.

This is my first attempt at toe up socks. I have one finished and one on the needles. I'm not sure this method will ever be my favorite but it is interesting . I'll post a picture when I'm done

This will be the second pair of socks to knit, the first were not too bad a little tight round the leg, but I felt that they could have looked better.

I am going to knit the sock up from the toes with hope they will be better and not so tight.

ok I have hit my first dilema as I have just joined the sock KAL. I love the looks of the cable socks. I would really appreciate input regarding this pattern and the yarn I have to make my KAL socks out of. My yarn is a multi color. I am not sure whether I should call it verigated or if it is self patterning. How do you think a multi colored yarn will work with this cable pattern? I am concerned that the multi color might hide the cable look. What do you think? Thanks for your help and happy knitting to you.
